Hello,
I have an HP computer and recently I cracked my screen. I connected a monitor via VGA, but today I've run into a major problem.
I want to start my PC in safe mode, but during startup, the Windows loading screens open on the broken (illegible) screen. The image only switches to the monitor when it’s time to select the user session. Therefore, I can’t choose safe mode or know when to press F8, etc.
I would like to know if it is possible to set my monitor as the primary display so that I can see the Windows loading screens.
Thank you in advance
(If it helps, here’s what my keyboard looks like: http://img5.cherchons.com/marchand/cot.priceminister.com/photo/864166943.jpg )
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 3.5.15

good evening
you need to disable the display on the external screen, so uncheck: "Extend the desktop to this monitor" in the display settings. at that point, only the laptop screen is active.
then switch to the other screen using the Fn+F5 keys.
the laptop screen becomes inactive and the external screen becomes primary.
then extend the desktop to the laptop screen via the display settings and check: "Extend the desktop to this monitor".
your external screen should become the primary and see if that works.
