Hello,

I would like to know if it is necessary to present an ID when buying an "unlocked" mobile phone at a supermarket (like Auchan..). Since I am unable to move, I would like to have a friend pick it up for me.

Thank you in advance for your responses.

    Good evening
The purchase of the mobile itself is strictly only possible if you write a check. However, if you also buy a chip (SIM card), even just a pay-as-you-go one, then yes, you will need an ID card.

No identification is required for a Mobicarte; in any case, SFR didn't ask me for one when I went there for a friend.

Let's say that if you purchase the unlocked mobile without anything = no ID required but if you buy with a prepaid SIM card, yes SFR or another, then you almost certainly need an ID to declare it. An ID is mandatory for buying the mobile if you also purchase a SIM card with it.

Good evening to you and thank you for your responses :)

But how do we make the warranty work if we don't declare it?

    What warranty?
The warranty for the phone? It works like that of a household appliance such as a washing machine, dishwasher, or DVD player.
On one side, you have the SIM card with a subscription or without a subscription, like a prepaid card, where you need to check with the operator, and the supermarkets are there as intermediaries since they sell on behalf of the operator. On the other side, there’s the device, where the store itself sells it as if it were selling a washing machine or a DVD player, and here the store's warranty applies.

Yes, the warranty for the phone. So the receipt will be sufficient as proof of purchase in case I need to use the warranty? I would like to know because I have trouble understanding how it would work.

Yes, you keep the receipt very carefully that you must have with the purchase of your phone. You'll be told that when you make the purchase, by the way.
