Hello, I bought a computer in Germany with Windows XP Home Edition. Everything is in German and it keeps causing me problems, often even completely freezing. If someone could tell me a way to change the language of my device, they would save me from madness... Who can help me?

Hello, the MUI XP version is only compatible with the Pro version of XP.  That's actually one of the advantages of the Pro version.  No way to change the language.

What Microsoft says  Multilingual User Interface Resource Files are only sold as a bundle with the English version of Windows, to make absolutely sure customers have the English version of the OS when installing MUI.  For Windows XP this bundle consists of 6 CDs - one containing the base operating system in English, plus 5 CDs containing the Multilingual User Interface files; the Windows 2000 bundle 3 CDs; one containing the base Windows 2000 Professional and the other two containing MUI files. After completing setup of the base English OS from CD1, run the program MUISETUP.EXE from any of the resource CDs to install the required User Interface Languages. MUISETUP.EXE can also be run from a network share, if desired. So it is impossible if we have XP PRO in Spanish, Italian, or German. 3- A set of 6 CDs is required, which are only sold with the English language version. Hello,  unfortunately I have to confirm jmp59's statement. I have all the mentioned versions, i.e. - Windows XP Home Edition (English) - Windows XP Pro Edition (English, German, French, etc...) - Multi-Language Pack (MUI)  I conducted a few tests. It is not possible to install the MUI on the Home Edition of XP even in its "English" version (at least not without special manipulations that might be possible... who knows... by modifying registry keys or adding utilities). When attempting to install on English XP Home Edition, the message is:  Windows XP Multilingual User Interface Pack cannot be installed on this platform.  This is probably a marketing issue to force interested users to upgrade to the Pro version of XP.  @ jmp59: without wanting to hurt your ego, I allow myself to advise you to be more chill... you certainly have good skills and your information was correct, but try to put yourself in the shoes of "simple" users... the marketing in place at Microsoft is quite frustrating, and the needs expressed by users as well as their disbelief regarding the language limitations supported by the XP Home Edition version are quite legitimate...

Hello 1ª All Windows since XP are installed in English... (I'm talking about the core) the language is just a MUI.....  2ª For the multilingual version, it comes with several CDs and already includes a multitude of languages.  Otherwise, with a tool (small program) it is possible to change the language of Windows without any problem... you just need to know how, which will not be explained here... (beware of bugs, some menus are still in English :) )  Now for the multilingual version (therefore official) when the multilingual module is installed, a new dialog box appears to change the language.  If the dialog box does not appear then it is not a multilingual version or the tool is not installed.  Sorry for the spelling, I'm writing with a Spanish keyboard from a client, so I'm in the process of changing the language...

For a Romanian friend (in Romania, all Windows versions are in English), I downloaded the Romanian language pack from the Microsoft website (just a simple Google search for Windows XP language pack) and it changed the language, but it only works from English Windows.   So the conclusion is: from English Windows, you can install any language; from Windows that has already been localized, you cannot.
