LG LED TV: Left half of the screen darker

Hello,
I bought an LG LED LCD TV Local Dimming LG - LE8500 two months ago.
For the past few days, the left side of the screen (actually exactly half) is noticeably darker than the right. There's a clear vertical line of demarcation in the middle of the screen.
This difference in brightness isn't obvious at first glance but quickly becomes noticeable in the image, and it's all you can see. The whiter the image, the more visible it is (it's not noticeable on a black background). Grrr.
Is this a technical issue, or poor settings (I have indeed reset the image settings to 0, factory config), but nothing works.
It's definitely not a source problem (tested via HDMI and USB: same issue).
If anyone has any ideas, please feel free to share.
