Download Cartoexploreur 3D (Both CDs).rar
Burn them with NERO
Install CD1
Replace the Infos.cnv file with the attached one in the Carto Exploreur 3D directory
Install CD2
Later, update Carto Exploreur 3D: https://www.bayo.com/content/88-liste-des-mises-a-jour (setup_cartoexploreur_3d_101.exe attached)
Update the France network: http://www.bayo.fr/pub/setup_france_bayo_0010-q0_carto.exe (setup_france_bayo_0010-q0_carto.exe attached)
Place your maps in the directory C:\Program Files\Bayo\Pays\France\CartoExploreur 3\maps (with the attached info.cd file)
Remove the CD or unmount the image and then copy the loaders into the Cartoexploreur 3D directory.
Activate the first time with cartoexploreur.3d-NLZ-Loadeur-1.exe
Click OK, then in the future no loader is needed to start.
cartoexploreur.3d-NLZ-Loadeur-2.exe: it's a small loader that allows you to validate the CDs of Cartoexploreur 3D
To have the network and the POIs activated. Once the CDs are activated, you no longer need to launch the loader unless you want to activate others.
Ps: if it crashes sometimes when launching a loader, it's normal (a little bug from the ASPI driver) you just need to restart. You can do [Ctrl][Alt][Del] to close the loaders that have stayed open.
Addition of a 3rd loader that allows all card CDs + active PC to PPC transfer
Just run CE3D_NLZ.exe at each launch.
Activation of BYO tiles for Cartoexploreur 3D:
1) Directly copy the tiles (byo) from the CD to a hard drive folder (e.g.: C:\Program Files\Bayo\Pays\France\CartoExploreur 3\maps)
2) Copy the program "active_carto3d_v1.2.exe" into this same folder
3) Run "active_carto3d_v1.2.exe"
4) Copy the following lines into a text file, putting the correct
CD name and folder name,:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
; Keys For CartoExploreur 3
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bayo\Pays\France\Cartes]
"51_OUEST"="C:\\Program Files\\Bayo\\Pays\\France\\CartoExploreur 3\\maps"
5) Rename this file to activation.reg (that is, change the .txt extension to .reg):
6) Double-click on "activation.reg" to write the map path to the Registry.
Ps: the principle of tile activation is described in "principe_activation.pdf"

I have version 2.01 of Cartonav, purchased in July 2003. I used it successfully for a while until… it stopped working, currently on different PCs. It installs, but does not open
Here is the message I receive every time:
Unable to open c:\Program Files\Bayo\Pays\France\Cntr.dep
Then comes the famous window "CartoNav.exe has encountered a problem and must close. We apologize for the inconvenience… etc
I have sent the message back to Microsoft each time, without ever receiving a response
Could it be incompatible with Windows XP., or the NTFS file system?
Initially, I used it on Windows 98 and it worked correctly.
Thank you for your responses.

Hello,
Thank you for kindly providing information regarding the opening of BYO & ISO files.
I have maps of France that I want to visualize using these file types.
What functions can be used to open them?
Thank you in advance
PS: I am not very computer savvy.

So if I can help you, I also have files with the ".BYO" extension.
These files are usually found several on a CD to generally form an IGN map 1/25000 of half a department.
I open it with CartoExploreur, available on the Bayo website that you can purchase.
However, it all depends on where your files are... I don't know why, but Carto makes a distinction between the original CD and a copy... so if it's a copy or files on a hard drive, you might struggle a bit, but all is not lost.
There you go, I hope I have shed some light for some!

Hi, here’s what I found online:
For the Bayo Cartoexploreur CDs (with the IGN 1/25000 maps covering the whole of France), the license is very clear: the byo files are a proprietary format that is inseparable from the CartoNav or Cartoexploreur software. The use of byo files is strictly prohibited with other navigation software (Ozi or others).
See bayo.com
Some info here, but it's for PC...
Apparently, you need the CartoNav software...

Is there an adaptation software available? Bayo remains silent.
