Artcut 2009: How to Use This Software?

Hello,

I just bought a plotter + press and I can't get it to work.
I don't understand the Artcut software which is in English. Is it compatible with Vista?
Is it possible to use CorelDRAW or Illustrator with the plotter?

Thanks to everyone

Configuration: Windows Vista / Firefox 3.6.8

It depends on the plotters... Some require specific software to perform a cut or a print, while others like the Graphtec are fine with Corel or Illustrator...

So the first thing is which plotter??

Hello everyone, I just bought a plotter and Artcut software in England.
The software works, despite some issues importing or creating my images.
But mainly, when trying to send the file to the plotter, no information goes through.
I don't have a model type for the machine and don't know what to choose from the listing. There's nothing in the manual or on the plotter.
My plotter works in test mode but there's no connection possible.
I've installed the software three times but it's still the same.
    Help... LOL I'm cracking up.

A plotter is like a laser or inkjet printer; you need to install the driver and then the software for managing the cutting.

Have you installed the plotter driver?

    I don't know...

But basically the principle is almost always the same...

The plotter expects to find a trace indication either by a specific thickness or by a specific color name that we give to a contour.

In most cases, the trace must be a contour (and not a surface)

You can find information on how the plotter works in its print driver.

Of course, the driver must exist for your OS; otherwise, it rarely supports unstable installations...

For your information, I can't even get the plotter started.
I don't even know which software to use to operate it.

Is it a USB connection or a parallel one?

I assume there is an installation CD included with the plotter?

Generally, you first install the software, and only after installing the management software do you connect and turn on the plotter.

The USB Bus detects a new device and looks for the management software in the previously installed drivers. If it was installed incorrectly, the detection cannot associate a driver with the device... and it gets stuck.

There should be a process in the manual for installing it.

    Hi

I'm Artcut, I threw them in the trash still wrapped because it was such crap

I have WinpcsignPRO, I recommend it

Sell your Artcut for 20 E and buy WinpcPRO, you won't regret it

Flocking is my job so ;)

Flocking can be ....... but not grammar, nor spelling......... after this observation.... that most have indeed made..... I must say that I am not an unconditional fan of Artcut of course, but it is satisfactory for occasional use. As for me, I opened it, tested it, and compared it........... and if that hadn't been the case, I would have given it to someone in need. In short, it's not so bad after all, of course, and it does what is expected of it, and that's really the main thing.

    Hello,
As for me, I acquired a used 'Vision Technologies' plotter (it's Chinese but not bad!) and I operate it with Artcut 200? (2002 or 2006) which is in English, but there is a French patch with the provided drivers, and it works very well. For me, it's the easiest!
In Artcut, there are settings for many plotters on the market.
For the USB without a USB port, I use a commercial serial/USB adapter.
USB port on the computer side and serial - RS232 side on the plotter.
Settings on COM3 (USB), otherwise if there's no USB then serial on COM2.
Make sure to have a standard m/f cable and not a null modem and others... otherwise it won't work!
These settings need to be adjusted in the window that appears in 'cut/plot' (of Artcut).

      Hello Trialiste,
I have a Vision Tech plotter too and I've had it for years, it worked very well with Artcut, but since I've changed my PC (the other one is down) I can no longer find the two installation CDs, the one for the plotter driver and the one with the Chinese logos for the software... :-( Do you think it would be possible for you to make a copy of yours, please? Because all the drivers I find online are impossible to install... GRRRRR
