Hello,
I have a pop-up window that appears on startup. At the top of the window, it says Avast! Licensing Alert
The text:
Your free antivirus is about to expire
It is outdated, a new version is available
Update your product
Blah blah blah
I don't like it because the Avast logo looks strange in this box.
Tell me if this is some kind of malware!
<config>Windows XP / Firefox 3.5.9</config>

Hello,
Install the new version of Avast:
http://www.commentcamarche.net/download/telecharger-151-avast -
To stop receiving this incessant alert, simply delete the files:
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\asw5Ldr2.dll
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\asw5Not2.exe -
Actually, I had a window that kept popping up, generated by Avast to ask me to download the latest version (5.0) which cannot be updated from the previous one (4.8).
By searching a bit, you can find the link to the free version, there is a 2-minute installation to do, and the old key remains valid. -
EH I don’t think so! Update your Avast as requested, if it’s not done.
Otherwise, are you able to start Avast? Is your key still working? -
Hello,
From what I could understand, upgrading from version 4.8 to version 5 of Avast doesn't happen automatically, hence the opening of this window.
I updated Avast directly on their website (I'm still a bit wary of this type of window) and the message doesn't seem to reappear. -
I tried to delete the files as previously requested, in order to get rid of that annoying "AVAST LICENSING ALERT" window, the said files are impossible to delete, so I followed the second suggestion to download version 5 of AVAST from the site:
https://www.avast.com/en-us/free-antivirus-download
without changing anything on my computer, it happened by itself, no extra key...
Well, apparently it works, no more annoying window!
Thank you. -
Avast Pro Antivirus: To make the Avast licensing alert window disappear forever, go to Settings, then Community, and uncheck the box that says "Show Avast recommendations."
If you check it again, it will reappear. -
Not at all, it just tells you that the antivirus version is outdated and is about to expire. If that's the case, you just need to obtain a new key from the Avast website. It's in no way malicious.

- Hello,
To remove the pop-up, simply block it with the "AvastUi" firewall which is located in "C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast".
You need to create a rule in the Avast firewall module and in the advanced options of the Windows firewall (create a double rule: one for incoming traffic and one for outgoing traffic).
I no longer have any messages and the VPS updates are working.
Here is a video that simply explains the process:

Hello
I have the same strange and unexpected alert that keeps popping up on the screen regularly for the past few days. I've been using Avast for years, and this window has never appeared before. Moreover, my Avast installation is completely up to date. It looks a lot like malware.
One thing is for sure, I will not click on "install" until I am certified that it is indeed Avast (which I would be surprised by from them). But how to tell! -
Hello, I have the same issue and I confirm that this pop-up has nothing to do with the real Avast since it systematically redirects to a paid link! My Avast version is up to date and the license is valid until October, so I don’t see why it would tell me otherwise.
I’m looking for a solution to get rid of this crap, and if I find it, I’ll post it here. -
Hello,
I did this:
the best thing would be to download: https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/securite/14361-malwarebytes-anti-malware/
install it, update it, and run a full scan.
-then, uninstall Avast and reinstall it (latest version)
Since then, no more spam messages!
Thank you -

To remove these pop-up windows from Avast (ironic for an antivirus), simply delete the two exe files that generate them, which are in the Avast folder: asw5Not2.exe and asw5Noti.exe (as well as the two related dll files).
-
I want the "AVAST Licensing alert" to disappear from my LAPTOP. It is ABSOLUTELY URGENT because it is unpleasant. Thank you.
-
I tried to delete the two files as instructed, but it doesn't work...
I also ran CCLEANER and another program called MALWAREBYTE, but nothing helps, the pop-up window keeps reappearing! -
