The page color applies everywhere.
For a background on just one page, you can draw a text box on the page, fill it with the color you want, and remove the borders.
When selected, click on the text box tool: text wrapping => behind the text.
Or with a watermark.
You will go just as fast with the text box.
But it won't print on the entire page. The printer imposes limits.

That works. I did the same thing by drawing a rectangle and placing it behind the text as well. But it’s true that it’s a bit of "tinkering". It’s crazy that there isn’t a specific function in Word to do that...
