Vaio battery, plugged in, not charging

Hello,

I just acquired a new battery for my Vaio that is two and a half years old.
Every time I plug in the battery, it says "plugged in, not charging." The battery light is blinking continuously.
If I put in my old battery, everything works normally, but it has no autonomy left.
How can I make my battery charge?
I have tried removing the battery and putting it back in, but it doesn't change anything. I have also tried turning off my computer, removing the battery, unplugging the power cord, holding the power button for about 20 seconds, and reconnecting the device and the battery, but nothing changes.

My model is a Sony Vaio VGN NR 11Z.
The battery is VGP BPS9/B 11.1V/4800mAh.

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 3.6.3

""VAIO Control Center" > Power Management > Battery

    "Enable battery care function"
    > Uncheck, or
    > "Advanced settings" > Set to 100%

    Happy to have helped you!

    It needs to be reinstalled.
But it is software originally installed on Sony Vaio PCs...

    Hello,

For my part, I had this problem:
My VAIO only started when plugged in, but the battery wasn’t charging. It was decreasing gradually, losing 1% with each start ^^" my computer wouldn’t even start without being plugged in

I tried the VAIO Center trick, unchecking and fiddling with the power-saving settings, etc... it didn’t change anything.

The solution I found on a website that works:

    Remove the battery
Plug the VAIO directly into the mains without the battery
    Turn on the VAIO
    Turn it off
Unplug it (or not, I can’t remember)
    Replace the battery

And then my VAIO could restart normally without being plugged in. And the battery charges properly again.

I hope this helps you :)

Hello, exactly the same case, exactly the same manipulation and it's loading now.
thank you (I turned it back on, battery replaced, without being charged, then once Windows started, I plugged it back in)

      Hello,
Unfortunately, I don't have an answer to your problem, but I'm experiencing exactly the same thing.
I ended up completely discharging the battery that was delivered to me charged at 50%, but nothing works; the computer still says, "plugged in, not charging."
Did you eventually manage to solve your problem? And if so, can you tell me how so I can solve mine?
      Thanks in advance.

Hello man, I had the same problem
try going to start, then Vaio Center, then battery power and you will see it's simple.

After months, I gave up on the idea that this battery could work on my computer. Everyone I consulted told me that the battery wasn't formatted for my PC. As a result, I paid for it for nothing, it’s lying around in my drawer, and I always leave my laptop plugged in.

In the Vaio Center, the only thing you can do is choose battery saving mode or others, and that doesn’t help at all. I’m all ears if you have any suggestions. I admit I'm a bit frustrated because it's the first time in computing that I can’t find the solution.

Just for information, even if the origin of the problem was different, it might help others: I just bought a Toshiba Satellite on which I later had "80% available (plugged in, not charging)" after modifying some settings. This was due to the activation of the "Battery Charge Cycle" function in the original Toshiba Eco Utility software. Disabling this function is enough to restore full charging.
