Cash mandate payment scam

Hello, after reading the discussion about rental scams, I have no doubt: I dealt with the same crooks on Le Bon Coin for a "THERMOMIX TM 31 complete still under warranty".
The ad was posted at 1 PM on May 8, 2010. The ad is very attractive, both in terms of the description and the price asked. I sent them a message to propose a hand-to-hand exchange for cash payment (they claim to live in Saint Avertin, and my husband works nearby). Very quickly, I received the following response which immediately led me to do some research and find this blog that confirmed the scam. However, I am the first to testify to a scam other than rental. After reading the other testimonies and messages from these crooks, I am sure I dealt with the same ones.

Good evening Dear Mr & Mrs
I have just read your email, and I thank you for responding so quickly. My Thermomix TM 31 is still available and is still under warranty, it was a gift from one of my cousins on my wedding day, I attach its characteristics: THE THERMOMIX TM31 WILL MAKE YOU A CHEF IN NO TIME, it can be used to make pasta, sauces, creams, ice creams, steam cooking, cooking rice, pasta, vegetables, chopping meat, making fine sugar, whipping mayonnaise, making jams, the Thermomix TM31 will fulfill all your wishes in no time, as for its purchase date, it is indeed March 2, 2009, and is in very good working condition and works perfectly. Regarding payment, you need not worry; I will have it shipped as you wish after confirmation of your payment. Regarding the price, it is firm at €250 + €25 for shipping. (Why describe it to me when I didn't ask for any further information, and I know the product! On Le Bon Coin, exchanges are simple and brief. Why deliver it to me when I asked for a meeting in Saint Avertin?)
The total will be €275
So if you are ready to make this purchase, you can already send me your home address so I can register your purchase as quickly as possible.
IT IS MAGICAL AND MORE.
As for payment and delivery, I will need your home address where the device will be delivered in case of sale, and you will also need to inform me of your availability times and the day you wish to be delivered. Regarding payment, you will have to pay by post (cash on delivery, by Urgent Cash Mandate) to my name and address that I will provide if this suits you.
So after making your payment of €275 at the post office, you will need to confirm your payment, making sure to hide the code that will allow me to withdraw your payment once the delivery is made to your home, after verification and once you have seen its working condition, you will need to give the receipt of the Urgent Cash Mandate to the delivery person; this will be simpler and faster.
Regarding the payment and delivery of the Thermomix TM 31 we
always wish to have more information about you in order
to organize your delivery favorably according to your availability at
your home.
We kindly ask you to fill out the form below to place your orders as soon as possible, so that we can adhere to
your delivery as quickly as possible:

FIRST NAMES .............................................../ .
COMPLETE ADDRESS: .........................../

NB: We do not wish to receive cash or bank checks.
Thank you for responding to us as soon as possible.
Mr & Mrs Othmani
SINCERELY

Of course, I am not going to follow up on this scam, but I reported it to Le Bon Coin and to the government website.
I hope my experience can prevent others from being taken in. That is why I invite you to also share your discoveries or misadventures. Don’t hesitate to Copy-Paste the messages, as this allows for a better understanding of the scam and creates a link with other experiences, facilitating search engines in finding the discussion forum.

Hello, I just saw a Thermomix on eBay (the brand new TM-31) for 250 euros (it normally costs over 1000 euros). The seller uses Othmani as a username!

I found your message because it seemed really strange to me that this Thermomix was priced so low.

I'd like to know if you knew how he operates to scam people (method of operation) and what you think of this listing at this
address:

Hello to you,

This is the first time I'm posting on this forum. I found the same ad on leboncoin except that the person offers to hand it to me in person in Saint-Martin-d'Hères for 400 euros.
Did I miss an episode? Is it worth digging a little deeper?

Best regards.

It's very funny!!!! We sent her a message with a question, and she replied with almost the same message as yours, but what proves to us 200% that it's the same and only person is:

At the beginning of the message you received, it says:

"Saturday, May 8, 2010, 5:42 PM From:
"celine bascou"<celine_bascou@hotmail.fr>

And at the end of my email, it says:

Best regards
Ms. Bascou

But just for fun before going to report her, I want to share my message for you to enjoy playing the game of 78 resemblances (very easy level)

Hello
I have just become aware of your email, and I thank you for responding so quickly. My thermomix tm 31 is still available and is still under warranty; it was given to me on my wedding day by one of my cousins. I am attaching its specifications: THE THERMOMIX TM31 WILL MAKE YOU A CHEF IN NO TIME, it can help you make

As for the price, it is firm at 250€.
So if you are ready to make the purchase, you can already send me your home address so I can register your purchase as quickly as possible.
IT IS MAGICAL AND MORE.
I will explain to you a little about how the delivery and payment will go, you will need to go to the nearest post office, make a Cash Mandate Urgent in my name and address, so after having done so, you will need to send me the confirmation of payment by email, which will be a very good proof of your purchase.
So if everything suits you, you can already send me your home address as well as your availability times + the day you want to be delivered.
So I can make arrangements as quickly as possible.
Thank you for responding to me as soon as possible.
If it suits you to contact me again so I can make arrangements as quickly as possible.
Best regards

I am also facing the same situation regarding the purchase of a Thermomix TM31, what a coincidence, the person contacting me by phone has a strong African accent and is trying to pressure me into going to the post office to make a cash transfer. I confess that the more I went through the process, the more I felt it was a scam because they pretend to be a restaurant that bought 6 Thermomix and wants to resell one. Moreover, I suggested simply picking it up to avoid damaging it during transport. Too bad I will have to wait a little longer for the Thermomix, in any case I hope that honest, somewhat naive people don't get taken in.
So here is the type of message sent,
.Hello dear interested party,
I just read your message and I see your interest regarding my VORWERK Thermomix TM31. So this is still current which is why I am following up with you.
Therefore, you will not have any worries if you are eager to acquire this VORWERK Thermomix TM31 which is in perfect condition with no defects.
I confirm my price is indeed €500. Please then prove your real interest in acquiring this Thermomix with no delivery or transportation fees required. I am a restaurateur, and we would like to sell it quickly at this price to find a buyer urgently. It will be delivered with all its papers including purchase papers, warranty, and user guide. If you are really interested, please quickly send me your personal information and address so that I can pass them on to my delivery person for them to register you quickly for your secure home delivery.

I hope, like you, that no one is naïve enough to fall for it.

Hello,

I also wanted to buy a Thermomix and I've found a large number of scam ads like yours for Thermomix on Leboncoin and other sites that all offer payment by postal order.

So BE CAREFUL!!!!

Hello, Christelle from Angers. I'm reporting the same scam in Limoges at the price of 550 euros, but I didn't fall into the trap... be careful.

The message changes.. it now concerns a restaurateur who bought 6 Thermomix for her restaurant and has 2 too many. You will see this identical literature down to the comma and the spelling mistake on ADOOS, Marché.fr, Le Bon Coin, etc.
This time, the person even scanned her identity card to prove her good faith, but she is unable to explain why she is posting an ad saying she lives in MOUZILLON 44 and suddenly finds herself in 33 because I told her that I was also from 44. The network is well set up... be very careful.

A piece of advice, definitely do not buy a Thermomix (especially the TM 31) through classified ads. I scoured a large number of offers on top announcements dated between July and December 2010 (I emailed at least 20 different people, each time they were offering the Thermomix for around 500 euros).

I received about 10 responses that were all dubious
: each time, the people were supposedly away, payment always had to be made by cash mandate, and often (but not always) their spelling was off. I DID NOT RECEIVE A SINGLE RESPONSE THAT SEEMED RELIABLE AND CREDIBLE.

In particular, I advise against dealing with:
- aurellegireaudo@hotmail.fr : whose ad was the following: http://www.topannonces.fr
- albinelecoeur@yahoo.fr
- juliolepes@yahoo.fr
- linethermomix@gmail.com : whose ad was the following: http://www.annonce-web.com/annonce.php?NUM=219
- rodriguez.martin2296@yahoo.fr
- elisaberte-lori@hotmail.fr
- lionel.facho@hotmail.fr

All these people had a very shady way of operating.

I’m sorry, but for those who want to buy used Thermomixes, it seems to be an impossible mission...

Hoping this email can shed some light for some people....

Oh? As far as I'm concerned, this Robert Rouquet was offering me a temporary donation of his house... with validation fees, of course, and all that, coming from Benin. I played along with it and told him off by scaring him...

I just experienced the same problem, "family mail," always a Hotmail address, on Le Bon Coin, an almost new one for 250 euros... It's a shame we can't upload photos, I'm sure they are the same. Mine was a Thermomix on a round wooden table, with the utensils around it, unfortunately I don't remember the rest as the ad was removed so quickly! I was cautious from the start, but out of morbid curiosity, I wanted to see how it would all turn out... And not only do they pressure you to buy quickly, telling you they can't meet you, that you'll receive it within two days, and that you need to rush to the post office to make the payment before they "supposedly" advance the shipping costs. In the last message, I got a long text about cash mandates, saying it's super secure, that without the code I need to scan and send back to him to get the money, he won't have anything... In short, the technique of "you have the advantage over me, I’m a fool who doesn’t realize the stupidity of putting my item up for such a low price"… I made sure to inform myself about the mandate because I had never heard of it before this ad, and I stumbled upon this site. And oh, coincidence, same response pattern, with some variations. I asked him for more photos, and I heavily insisted on coming to see the item, but his mysterious job takes up all his time, he doesn't even have 5 minutes for it. And the worst part is that his ad, removed as soon as I responded, does not match the address he gives me to pay. All this to say that it’s well-crafted, and often we don’t realize it; these types of people rely on feelings felt like "the deal of the century," and we’re not going to tell them that they’re making a big mistake by pricing it so low. Then, they make us believe that others are interested in the deal => atmosphere of urgency, we think less clearly, we don't want to let this pass, and for the unluckiest among us, they will get taken.

For me, I will see how the events unfold. If he changes his behavior (sweet-talking) bragging about the quality of the "new item, it’s like new!" trying to blackmail... I still want to emphasize that he always sends me responses at odd hours, the latest one was at 2 a.m., before that it was 3 a.m...

We should alert the labor inspectorate, getting to the point of checking these emails at such an hour! :)

Hello,
I have just detected (again) scams regarding the Thermomix TM 31 on the Leboncoin website.
I responded to an offer by asking a few questions. And here is the email I just received:

Hello
The thermomix was purchased in February 2010 and its warranty is still active until 2012. The device is complete with its original box and all its accessories: the stainless steel bowl (Guy Dégrenne) the whisk; the latest generation varoma; the knife; the spatula including its purchase invoice. I am selling it because I don't use it often.
You have nothing to worry about as it is entrusted to the post office
and they will take care of delivering it to you by registered mail
in your name, so for that please send me your address as follows:
NAME;FIRST NAME:CITY:ZIP CODE:MOBILE NUMBER
And I will then forward everything to the post office so they can come deliver it to you
Payment will be made by urgent certified cash mandate in the name of the accountant of the postal delivery agency that is delivering the thermomix with the receipt of the mandate handed over against the thermomix upon delivery after unpacking the package and testing the thermomix tm31.
Best regards

To all those who wish to buy (like me) a thermomix, be careful, don’t get scammed!

Hello, I just got scammed too.
A very interesting ad regarding wood.
The seller, MR. PALCRO PHILIPPE JEAN, asked me to make an urgent cash transfer and to check with the post office that the transfer could be paid immediately, not forgetting to mask the code.
Still not having my wood, I went to the post office to get refunded.
The post office clerk told me that the transfer had been paid to the requester.
SO BE CAREFUL, DO NOT MAKE URGENT CASH TRANSFERS ANYMORE.

Hello, I also had the impression that I was dealing with a scammer, because I requested several times for photos of the device, but only received catalog photos, and I'm a bit surprised as well that someone would travel across France to deliver it to me.
Here is his message:

<ital>Hello
I received your message and I want to inform you that I am currently in Calenzana (Haute-Corse) because I am a midwife and I have been assigned to Corsica. I have the purchase invoice. I want to inform you that delivery is possible. Honestly, I am unavailable on my side, but my cousin who lives with me can come to deliver it to your home. As for the transport costs, I will take care of them, so don’t worry about that.
Due to my job, my number is sometimes unavailable, but I will give it to you in case you want to try and it will go through. Here it is: 06.08.98.10.70
Here is the address where I am in Corsica:
5 route du stade 20214 Calenzana, Muredi building (Haute-Corse).
You can come pick up the Thermomix; if you cannot go to Corsica, as I told you, my cousin will come to deliver it to you.
It's up to you to see what works for you.
Regarding payment, you will need to make a postal order and you should keep the receipt that the post office will give you because the delivery of the Thermomix will be made in exchange for this receipt. Once the postal order is completed, you will send a scan of this receipt to my email to confirm that my cousin will deal with a real customer. I have no doubts about you, but if you are really interested, you will need to understand me. Upon delivery and after trying the Thermomix, you will give the receipt to my cousin, and she will go to the post office the next day to withdraw the money. So after trying the Thermomix, if you are no longer interested, you can cancel the transaction and go to the post office to collect your money back.
Looking forward to hearing from you

I find this forum super nice and informative. I almost got scammed with this kind of thing last week. I am currently looking for a Thermomix 31, which I know very well because I own one. I want to give one to my daughter. Last week, I found 5 people, including myself, to buy one for €480 for 5. So I placed my order via America. They told me that shipping would take place on a Saturday by carrier around 7 PM. However, here there is no delivery on Saturdays except by postal service. So they called me back with an accent not from around here on Saturday to tell me that he was 30 km from my home and that I had to go to the post office to make an international mandate. I know well because I am a mail carrier, and she told me I wouldn’t give you a mandate until you have the merchandise. You come back on Monday and then we will see. And the guy called me back to tell me to give the mandate numbers so they could deliver to us. AND THAT'S WHEN WE REALIZED IT'S A SCAM. On Monday, no news on the horizon, silence, no one. But I am still looking and I have had other fraudulent contacts. They are always away or unavailable for whatever reasons. I don’t give my money before having the item in hand. Anyway, I am cautious. Good luck to everyone and don’t get scammed. Thank you for taking the time to read me. GIGI

Tips for receiving your package

* Carriers often require a signature from the package recipient; this is a safe and quick way to ensure that the package has been delivered.
* It is essential that you provide a complete address, with all necessary details to access your door (code, floor, etc.), and also a phone number so that the delivery person can contact you in case of a problem.

When you receive your package, before accepting it and letting the delivery person leave, make sure to check the following points:

* The package is in good condition
* Detailed invoice warranty card
* The package is still sealed
* There are no apparent signs of cutting or opening

If you notice any problems of this nature, it is very important that you report it to the delivery person at the time of receipt.

The reason is simple: if you accept the package as is, it is much more difficult to obtain compensation afterwards.

Good evening,

Here is the message I just received regarding a thermomix that is supposedly being given away for just shipping costs.
Please be careful; this is a scam!

Hello Mrs. Isabelle O.
This is from Mr. LETOREY Didier, I am in charge of sending you the thermomix tm31 that Mrs. LEVERE Alice left me and which is currently in my possession along with all its papers. I wanted to notify you that I have received your contact details that she left me for the shipment.

Good evening
following your message, I want you to know that no one is forcing you to acquire the thermomix if you do not trust it, and I am here to notify you that I am a responsible and honest adult and I cannot compromise my integrity for money. Given the country I am in currently due to a work mission, I will not be able to make an appointment, so I had to propose to Mrs. Alice a postal shipment. So if you are really honest, serious and interested in the thermomix, you will then pay the shipping costs which amount to 85€ including tax by making an urgent cash transfer according to the details I will leave you below. Once done, you send me the transfer information so that I can receive the fees in order to proceed with the shipment of the thermomix by post. Please make the necessary arrangements to carry out the urgent cash transfer of the shipping costs as soon as tomorrow morning if you already have the 85€ with you so that I can proceed with the shipment as soon as possible tomorrow afternoon depending on my availability.

The details for establishing the URGENT CASH transfer:

Name:........................MAJOR
First Name:...................Jean
Address:...................19 rue de nimes 31100(toulouse )
Country:.........................France

Awaiting your email to proceed with the shipment.

Good evening, I confirm the same email received today...

"Hello
I just read your message and confirm that the robot is still available sold with all its accessories (Varoma, basket, spatula, whisk) and 2 recipe books, its purchase date is January 2012. But since I've been quite busy these last few days due to my move, I suggest shipping it to you by post. So if that works for you, let me know your details to proceed with the shipment of the package as soon as possible.

NAME- ..................................

FIRST NAMES: .................................

FULL ADDRESS: ..................................

TEL............................

However, the payment will be made in cash via URGENT CASH MANDATE of €425 at the post office before shipping the package. But I must inform you that after the URGENT CASH MANDATE is effective, you will have a mandate identification number necessary for cashing the funds, so I suggest you keep it to communicate it upon receipt when you have received the robot and verify its condition which is new, its purchase invoice, these accessories and its warranty. If my approach suits you, let me know the details to which the robot will be shipped, no worries about shipping costs as they will be at my expense so you will pay exactly €425 by URGENT CASH MANDATE. I will provide you in the next email with the details to which the €425 should be sent, and once that is done, keep me informed and then I will proceed to ship the package to your address.

Best regards"

What I don't understand is that theoretically if we don't give the code to the seller, we risk nothing, other than the processing fees at the post office to cancel the cash mandate which should be around 15 euros.

I've noticed another strange phenomenon on Le Bon Coin, for the TM31, the ad disappears a few hours after its publication... I found that a bit strange... but your testimonies seem to confirm the scam, or at least the attempted scam!

Good luck with your search for a genuine used TM31 ad!

the message changes .. now it is about a restaurateur who bought 6 thermomixes for her restaurant and has 2 too many. This identical text down to the punctuation and spelling mistakes, you will see it on ADOOS, Marché.fr, le bon coin, etc. ....
This time the person even scanned her ID to prove her good faith but she is unable to explain to me why she is posting an ad saying she lives in MOUZILLON 44 and suddenly finds herself in the 33 because I told her that I was from the 44 as well. The network is well established ... be very careful.

Here's the email: Hello

I am contacting you regarding the sale of my white iPhone 6 Plus 64GB, unlocked with receipt and warranty, Price €300 firm.
Indeed, I bought it for my calls, but my husband gave me a Samsung Galaxy as a birthday gift in the meantime. So I decided to sell the iPhone because I can't sell a birthday gift. But before anything else, I want to tell you that I am currently traveling for my documentary, geographical, and professional research.

My phone is in impeccable condition.

iPhone 6 Plus white 64GB in excellent condition, screen protector film, protective case, with box, USB, charger, headphones, 100% original product, 1-year warranty. I entrusted the phone to a private courier before our departure; he will deliver it to your home with no shipping fees as I have already settled the delivery costs with him. Thus, if you are truly interested in my offer, please provide me with your contact information as follows:

FIRST NAME:
POSTAL CODE:

I will take care of forwarding this information to the carrier so he can deliver the iPhone to your home, possibly at 6 PM or the day after tomorrow with all accessories and receipts.
