Hey Lunuxians and Linuxiennes,
I have a problem and I'm turning to you because Google ... didn't give me a satisfactory answer.. =(
Here's the issue at hand:
Some time ago, I downloaded a Live CD of Ubuntu (Gnome)...
When I boot from it, everything is fine. But when the session starts, everything freezes.
So I have to use the reset button on my PC.
Even after several attempts (reboots), the same problem persists.
So I thought, well... I'll just stick with Windows.
Recently, Linux Ubuntu 10.04 was released :D
It really looks nice ;)
So, I installed it on my USB stick (tired of using CDs that often end up in the trash)
I boot from Ubuntu, everything is fine. 2 - 3 minutes of use, EVERYTHING freezes...
Exactly like on the Live CD... but this time I was lucky enough to use Ubuntu for 3 minutes :)
Nota Bene: I installed Ubuntu (10.04) on my 8Gig USB stick (Dane Elec) using "Unetbootin"...
Well, it’s not working...
I’m looking for another alternative, so I found "Wubi"
I install Ubuntu (10.04) on the PC...
It behaves exactly like on my USB stick, a few minutes of use and everything freezes
And now, I just deleted everything related to Linux from my PC.
So now there's a Live CD with Ubuntu (not 10.04) that doesn't work (...)
and
My USB stick with 10.04 on it that I can boot from, but only for 3 - 4 minutes of use...
So, I don’t know if the issue comes from Ubuntu, my PC, the installation, or the download...
However, during the download and installation, everything went smoothly (no error messages or anything..)
So, I'm wondering if it would be possible to use Ubuntu on my computer ^^'
Thanks in advance for your help
Best regards,
KevG

Hello Tweengo,
I did what you asked me, and after 30 minutes I returned to my computer.
To check if it had "frozen," I typed: lspci
I have the configuration of my computer, so I concluded that nothing had "frozen."
I switched back to graphical mode (Ctrl + Alt + F7), then I logged in, and after 30 seconds everything froze...
Let me know how it goes,
thanks,
Best regards,
KevG
