"you have 18 unread messages"

Good evening

when I start Windows XP Home and I reach the user page, there is this phrase that appears under my name:

you have 18 unread messages.
then comes the famous loading of your settings.

I’m afraid this is related to my sister’s MSN Messenger, but she has since read her messages. Indeed, she opened MSN Messenger and clicked on the envelope icon to read her messages. Since Internet Explorer opened, I closed it, and she checked her emails with Firefox afterward. And since then, I have this message at every startup. Does anyone know how to make this message go away?

Thank you very much.

by the way, there's a question that's been on my mind, regarding online RAV, the antivirus detects mail files, does anyone know what that corresponds to?
thank you again^^.

Gallou.

I don't remember by heart... but there's a trick to remove the number of emails... I'll check and let you know... you have to go through the registry...

Hello
I have pretty much the same issue regarding the "unread messages," but what's strange is that I no longer have MSN Messenger (the old version)... maybe MSN hasn't been properly cleaned up... or can anyone tell me where in the registry "regedit" the fact that Windows XP writes me this message "unread" at startup is located?
Thank you

Click on Start, run. Type msconfig in the dialog box that opens and click OK.
Click on the Startup tab, then uncheck the box corresponding to your message, confirm by clicking OK.
After restarting the PC, it will no longer be there!

Hello,

Regarding your 18 unread messages, it's quite simple, you need to:

- Open MSN,

- Then delete all those messages.

As for your RAV ONLINE issue, I'm sorry, I don't know.

Thank you.

As for MSN, of course the messages were deleted...
and my sister's profile was removed from my computer. It was still a mystery of IE. A good cleanup40 and the problem was solved (though a bit harsh...)

I'll keep the message open for RAV's mail files.

And thanks again

Hi Regis

I will be happy to paste my RAV report (I'm at the office right now, so it will be tonight)
but I'm not infected. It's just routine scans, and since I don't use an email client like Outlook or Incredimail, I'm wondering what it corresponds to.

Thanks for your attention

See you soon

I'm sorry, I'm in the middle of an internship report and honestly I completely forgot to post a reply last night.
the thing that disturbs me is the last line.

thank you very much.

Thank you everyone.

Even though I'm still left wanting regarding Rav's "mail files."
If anyone ever has the answer, don't hesitate to reach out.

Have a good day.

It's a scan of your emails, but it didn't find anything in them
RAV scans in Outlook and finds infections, for example
