Delete an old "chez.com" site

Solved

Someone created a website about our village: http://stjuliendelampon.chez.com/index.htm
The information is now completely outdated and after "investigation," we believe that the person who created this site has passed away.
Therefore, we do not have the access codes. This outdated site harms tourism professionals and other businesses in St-Julien-de-Lampon.
So,
1) how can we be sure that it is indeed the person we believe it is?
And then:
2) if it's someone who still exists, how can we force them to change their content?
3) if the person has indeed passed away, how can we delete this site?
Thank you for your help. Suzanne

Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 3.6.3

Yes, you're right; I must have misspelled the name, and indeed after some research, it's a kind of "free" blog.

I suggest that you contact chez.com directly to see if the member is still active and thus request a possible deletion, but that will depend on their goodwill.
In the meantime, I found a way to contact them in the terms of use:

    CHEZ.com
    8 rue de la Ville
    l'Eveque 75008 Paris

For more information regarding this contract, please refer here:

    Keep me posted!

Panoramix, I am diving back into this "case" that is still unresolved thanks to Pskl... See the response I gave him... Do you have another good idea?
      Thank you. Suzanne

I have the same problem, I’m starting to believe that chez.com is a scam.

    Hello,

However, I am not sure that you can "force" a person to change the content of their site if they do not consent. However, you can always send them an email outlining your requests.

    Have a good afternoon.

Moreover, if you type the name of your village into Google, you won’t find its website at the top.

Thank you for your response Panoramix,
I work at the Town Hall of this village for the Municipal Camping and people come to complain, believing that it comes from us.
According to the name of the author (displayed in the source), we think that the person is deceased... And to answer you more precisely:
    - I have sent him several emails over the past 3 years to offer updates, still without response...
    - I'm not sure it concerns a domain name: one can create personal pages from the site "chez.com" with any name one wants.
    - I have found the site in top position on Google! (not always)

So, how to request chez.com to check and/or remove a site...
    Best regards, Suzanne

Just a clarification: if you enter the name of our village with this spelling: "st-julien de lampon"... the site appears first on Google.

    Thank you, Panoramix!
I couldn't find my way to this address... Impossible to find a contact by email at .com...
So I will write to them, with the header from the town hall, will they be more impressed?!
    ;-)
The site wouldn’t bother us if some of the cottages and guesthouses hadn’t disappeared, others have passed away (really!) and there are the newcomers demanding! At the town hall, the office of tears...
    I will keep you updated...

In the meantime, if other internet users have had this issue, please let us know what happened...

    Good luck!
I have a website "chez.com" myself, completely outdated and detrimental to my work as an artist. I no longer have the access codes, and strangely, my email address does not exist in the "chez" database, they say. I have never changed my email address...
I finally sent a regular letter to request the deletion of the site, followed a few weeks later by a registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt. No one has responded to me, either by email, phone, or of course by mail. I am therefore going to contact the CNIL, since "Chez" is not taking my request into account, even though they are obliged to do so. If necessary, I will also get a lawyer.
    There you go...
    Have a nice day.

Ah! A comment! Thank you Pskl...
The Town Hall where I work sent a registered letter in spring 2010, and we still haven't received a response. People mentioned on this blog are still dead (!), others, who have stopped their business, are still asking me to do something... it deeply frustrates me, but since I depend on elected officials... it's tough to make progress...
I thought the Web was better monitored today.
Please let me know Pskl if you can make things move forward.
      Have a nice weekend.

But unless I'm mistaken, when you try to access the address http://stjuliendelampon.chez.com/index.htm you receive a 404 error "Page not found." This means it has been deleted, right?

Well, that's really a miracle! I tried a few times this summer... But not since, I've been resting from this beautiful season!
So, Pskl: if we send a registered letter and have enough patience, it happens by itself... Chez.com might be able to give a little shout... But well, everything is fine... or almost...
The problem now will be to have Google remove the link to the site that always comes first in the list (if we type St-Julien de lampon) and that opens, indeed, chez.com with the notification: page does not exist.
Thank you Panoramix, thank you Pskl. A thousand times!
I will be able to meet my complainers with a light heart and a high head, I will have good news for them!

Regarding the classification of the site hosted on chez.com, it should decrease since the site is no longer accessible.

Glad to have been able to help you,

      Best regards

      Yes, that's what I thought...
I'm now wondering how long Chez.com had deleted the site!-)
I'm forwarding the link to this forum to our Mayor, who I hope will be pleased!
The concerned Lamponais and Lamponaises will be able to get back to their daily routine...

Thank you again for your help, Panoramix,
      Suzanne

    Hello
I'm following up on this old message, as I also have an old site CHEZ.COM still present on the web.
I noticed that since 2000, CHEZ has been acquired by FREE, so I will dig into this lead.

And you, have you been able to resolve the issue and how?

Thank you for this quick response! The problem is that I do not want to delete the site but to take control of it again! I called 1044 (Free) who sent me to the technical service, who sent me to the Alice platform (1033) who sends me to Chez.Com (no number). In short, we are going in circles...

The maintenance of the Alice or Chez sites is done only via FTP, using the old logins and passwords. It is not possible to access (at least I have never succeeded) the site management tools from Free.

That being said, my site has become inaccessible for a few days; I hope the hosting services have not been stopped.
