Good evening,
I have a problem with this camcorder: during playback, it displays black horizontal bands (5 evenly spaced across the image), whether with tapes recorded before this problem appeared or with a recording I just made "to see".
I suspect there's an issue with the playback heads.
Will cleaning the heads be enough, or is it more serious?
Can I attempt to do anything myself?

The problem probably comes from the playback heads.
Prioritize cleaning, preferably with an appropriate cleaning cassette. Manual cleaning is tricky and can misalign the heads.
If cleaning doesn't resolve the issue, I'm afraid the problem is more serious. A repair would cost as much as buying a new camcorder.
