TSSTcorp SH-S223C cannot read anything

Recently, I had to install a new DVD reader/recorder, a SH-S223C. It was working perfectly at the installer’s place, but once I got home, I couldn't read anything. I’ve tried over thirty CDs and DVDs, and nothing works.

I attempted to update the drivers without success; it tries to read the discs for a long time, but it clearly doesn’t recognize them.

Does anyone have a solution that doesn’t involve taking the PC back to the installer?

    I just had the same issue with my SH-S223C drive; it was only reading certain DVDs...

    I searched the internet and found the latest firmware:

    Here’s the link:

    Otherwise, search for the file: SH-S223C_SB05.exe

    This solved my problem.

    My response is a bit late, but if someone has the same kind of mishap.

      Since the firmware update, the drive is no longer recognized by Windows XP.
