Hello how to write x with a bar over it in Word?? (x and a bar above it) Thank you

Menu Insert "Special characters..." from there select the Symbol font
click on the "Overline" character above Pi
insert or confirm by OK
then type the x => it will be placed under the line.

if it's for doing math, the simplest way remains LaTeX!

\bar{x} gives x bar!

Otherwise, in OpenOffice you can install a plugin called Dmaths, which might help you.

Hello,  Workaround!  You can create your own character :-)  //Start/Run /eudcedit.exe  Lupin  -- ~What is essential is invisible to the eye~ ~One sees clearly only with the heart~

I'm facing the same problem, I followed what UsulArrais said, but after creating the special character (x with a line through it), I can't find it anymore in Word or Excel. What should I do?

You can also use the drawing toolbar. There's no need to stress over so little, all you need to do is zoom in to about 400% to place the line correctly and you're all set.  Sincerely.

Insertion, special character, MS Reference 1 font, x bar. The character exists in my Windows and Excel 2007 version.
