Good evening, I have a problem, I have an Asus laptop with Windows 7, I accessed the BIOS and set a user password on it, but when I restart, before each Windows launch, it asks me for the user password, is this normal?
I can no longer access the BIOS either, how can I get back in please?
Thank you

I haven't lost my password, everything's fine, but at startup, I can't access the BIOS; it asks me for the password, I type it in, and Windows 7 starts up. However, no matter when I press F10, I can no longer access the BIOS. This is serious, I need to go into the BIOS...
But I think that the buttons to access the BIOS are either (Delete or F2)
if that's not the case, you need to download CMOS, which is software that will delete your password (by working in MS-DOS). If not, then remove the case of your PC (central unit), then remove the CMOS (the battery, but your PC must be off) and start your PC to access the BIOS and delete it.

Hello Kari, I type "download CMOS" into Google and there’s nothing convincing; this method seems risky. Is there an official site...?
It's a laptop and I'm not handy, so apart from that, am I doomed to never be able to return to the BIOS?
Ah .. I'm sorry for the software because I misspelled the word, so this software is ( cmospwd-4.3.zip ) and not CMOS, so I apologize. And for the link, try ( http://freshmeat.sourceforge.net/projects/cmospwd/ )
good luck
good luck
If you set a password in the BIOS, it's normal for it to ask for it at every startup. Try this: remove the BIOS battery for at least an hour. The BIOS will likely reset.

hi everyone
but epango already said that it's a LAPTOP and he can't open it with the software (cmospwd-4.3.zip or cmospwd5.zip) is a tool.
so for the command it's very simple:
CMOSWD /k the /k allows you to delete the password. that's all.
good luck marine

But come on! So according to him, if a laptop’s battery is dead, you can’t change it? In most laptops, the BIOS battery is located on the back, under a cover that you can unscrew.
See you!

I downloaded cmospwd, unzipped it in C: and nothing is working, demonstration:
C:\>CMOSWD /k
'CMOSWD' is not recognized as an internal or external command, an executable program or batch file.
