Populate a hard drive

Hello everyone,

I made a mistake: I deleted the partition from my external hard drive, so it's no longer recognized on my PC.

I can find it under the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon, "Properties," "Change settings," "Populate."

And here's what the window says:

Disk: disk 1
Type: basic
Status: online
Partition type: master boot record
Capacity: (approximately) 160GB
Unallocated space: (approximately) 160GB
Reserved space: 0MB
Volumes: (there's nothing)

I would like to know how to reallocate space on my disk, so that I can later partition it (which I don't master either, so if someone could guide me as well...)

I tried to find my disk in the Control Panel, Administrative Tools, but it wasn't recognized either.

Thank you in advance for your assistance, and have a great day

Configuration: Windows Vista / Firefox 3.6.2

chance to be on Vista, right-click on "Computer", manage, disk management... and do whatever you want, but don’t mess up the hard drive, alright?! We’re not here to erase your OS ^^
