Hi everyone,

It’s been a while since I came to CCM and I notice a change that is much nicer =)

anyway, let's get to my problem:

I built a PC yesterday using second-hand parts from my old PCs, once I powered it on everything works, I install Vista with an old license, it works fine.

But here’s the thing, in the early afternoon I notice the screen flickering!
I don’t panic at all, I think it’s a driver issue or a poorly connected cable…

In fact no! The image on my screen started to jump, and behind the screen a nice black smoke began to come out!

That wasn’t normal because the screen was still working although it was starting to show grid lines, something it has always done to me!

Does anyone have an idea of what to do because the screen still turns on but smokes!

Thanks for helping

If he smokes, it’s not a very good sign. In my opinion, he doesn’t have long to live.

    I don’t think you can do much…

If a black smoker and a shadow appears behind the screen that’s my opinion you have a component that jumped…

The best thing would be to take it in for repair…
    Or to buy another one…

      Hello,

This is what you call a breakdown, simply.

If he smokes it would be better not to turn it on at all and to buy another one, but not to repair it because it costs almost as much as a new one, unless it is under warranty.

Finally, for the repair it depends if it's an LCD or a tube.

Is it a CRT (tube) screen or LCD?

Is it possible that the graphics card is to blame?

I thought it might be sending bad signals, which is what caused this smoke.
