Well then... welcome to naive lovers from the North?! My story is the same as all of yours. Two months ago, I met a woman from Côte d'Ivoire who lives in Grand Bassam. I'll keep it short: her mother is French, her Ivorian father has passed away, and she has a brother. She works as a medical assistant, she is light-skinned, kind of looks like a "bomba latina"! I am hopelessly in love with this 33-year-old woman and I am about to pay for her trip which is in two months. The trip costs 550 euros; I will pay in two installments of 200 euros and she will take care of the paperwork through an uncle and an aunt (her mother's sister) who lives in Marseille in order to stay in French territory. She already has a passport and will undergo a medical examination from what she told me. But she is not asking me for money for all this except for the price of the ticket. Furthermore, I asked her to pay 150 euros out of the 550 euros, to which she did not object after all the negotiations. I would like to know if this woman really exists: Mariama Barry, and if there is a 21 Avenue des Plaines in Grand Bassam with a phone number 0022545547420. I don’t remember her initial email address when I first contacted her because since then she has changed it and added our first names: michel-mariama@live.fr.
If someone could respond quickly to me and give me some information, I would be grateful because I need to send her the 200 euros via Western Union tomorrow and since luck and I don't go well together, well...

    I suppose you’ve never seen this girl on webcam... She must have told you she doesn’t have one because it’s way too expensive, or because her computer is too old...
    Or if you did see her, it was only for a few seconds, and it was then a video...

    Yes, Geci is right, unfortunately, you are in the midst of a romance scam scenario, perpetrated by an "internet scammer" (or "brouteur") from Ivory Coast, one of those young Africans from Abidjan who spend their days in internet cafés to scam white men (and women, by the way).

    Have you talked to this "girl" on the phone? If so, how does she speak?

    The address you provided is obviously fake, because in Ivory Coast, addresses are mostly post office boxes... There are no addresses with numbers and street names.

    If you start sending her money, you’ll get into an endless loop, as the scammer will multiply requests for all sorts of reasons: vaccines (ridiculous actually, you don’t need vaccines to come to France), sick mother, medication, accident, customs taxes, and the list goes on.

    Everything is fair game to get you to send money... That’s the scammer's goal, who will manipulate you especially if they see you are well "hooked"..

    Try to think for two minutes: what proof do you have that this "girl" actually exists? It’s certainly not your bland MSN conversations, I’m sure of that... Didn’t her numerous spelling mistakes raise any red flags for you?

    I hope I’ve convinced you. In any case, don’t send any money, because if you do, you’re sending it to a young Ivorian who must be having a good laugh in front of his computer while he recites love words to you and sees you smiling like a fool on camera... because I suppose you do connect your webcam, right?

    The photo of the 'Bomba latina' as you call her is certainly a photo taken from the internet to make you fall for it. In reality, you're facing a little scammer.
