LCD monitor without a computer?

Hello,

I would like to buy an LCD screen that offers full HD with an HDMI input for playing on my console (Xbox 360). I'm interested in this one: the HannsG HH251HP

However, since it is a fixed computer monitor, I have the following question:
To use the monitor like a TV (to connect my console), do I need to go through a computer? (for power) Or can I use the screen directly as a normal television?

I have seen that there are LCD monitors that have a built-in TNT tuner. Can I similarly use the monitor without a tower to watch television?

Thank you in advance for your responses..
Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 3.0.6

"To use the monitor as a television (to connect my console), do I need to go through a computer?"

No. The screen receives the video signal emitted by the console.

"(for power)"

For power?!? The screen has its own power supply!!! It receives energy from the mains!

"I saw that there are LCD monitors that have a TNT tuner built in. Can I also use the monitor without a tower to watch television?"

YES! That's the point of an internal tuner!

Because the manuals don't say everything... But they don't say nothing either, huh!

Hello,
a PC screen and a Full HD TV do not have the same purpose, and they complement each other rather than oppose each other:
- the PC screen is designed to display images from the PC, with great precision and excellent responsiveness, but it does not have an image processing circuit, and the viewing angles are not very good (you have to stay in front of the screen if you don't want to see the colors shift):
it is mainly intended for stationary work (office/surfing, photo work, gaming);
- the TV is optimized for movies, series, and other such programs, and is less suited for precision work: the main goal is to achieve good immersion in films, thanks to a larger screen size, with wider viewing angles (typical use in a living room), and a graphic correction circuit is integrated to improve the quality and smoothness of videos.

indeed, the Full HD TV will have an image about 2 times larger than your PC screen!
you will have a much better immersion in a movie on a 42" TV (1m) than on a 24"...

PS: if you do not plan to buy a TV, you should rather consider a more versatile screen, with a PVA panel:

Thank you for your very quick response.

So, last question, when you have a screen of this size, what is the point of buying a full HD TV for a price twice as high?

Thank you,
