Hello,
I downloaded Notepad++ v3.1 from its website, as well as the french.xml file.
I copied it into the same directory as Notepad++, but my Notepad++ is still in English.
What else should I do?
Thank you in advance.

Here is the step-by-step guide for those who are still looking to set Notepad to French:
- Save this file by renaming it nativeLang.xml:
http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/commun/nativeLanguageFiles/french.xml
- Type %APPDATA%\Notepad++ in the Run dialog box, then press Enter - to open a directory window.
- Copy nativeLang.xml into the open directory.
- Launch Notepad++, and there you go.
==> Everything is explained on the site.-
Sorry to bring the subject up again, but the link is dead and just like me, others may need this tip even though the problem is resolved.
Here is the new link:
http://notepad-plus-plus.org/contribute/binary-translations.html
Click on the flag of your choice and then do as Sandriine said (the site explains it in English).

See you later :-)-
Thank you Pascal,
Your installer is working well.
I downloaded the zip file from the official site:http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/fr/site.htm
and I don't understand why the zip format doesn't support the French language. -

The exact solution from "Sandriine" also works for Notepad++ Portable; you need to place this file in "\App\Notepad++".

I downloaded it from "01net" and other sites but it's never in French... in the installer language I have the choice between Czech, English, Croatian, Indonesian, Hungarian, Polish, Romanian, Slovenian, and Slovak!??!!??!!? I also copied the french.xml...
but it doesn't change anything :-(
maybe it's because I have a Polish version of Windows...????
thanks in advance -
I just downloaded Notepad++ in French. How can I tell if it was successful?
-
Uh... I had tried this Notepad++ on my USB stick, but I could no longer add ANSI plugins. So I removed it to install a normal ANSI Notepad++.
But now, I can't get French back (no nativeLang.xml in sight...)
Boo.... I'm sad...
