Change the BIOS of a Toshiba under DOS

Hello,
I'm having a huge problem with a TOSHIBA P200-1G2 laptop.
After a lot of crashes and cleaning, I reformatted the hard drive and then I wanted to reinstall Windows.
Horror, the drive is not recognized anymore! So I found an external drive and booted from USB, it worked.
The Vista installation crashed on login files, impossible to proceed, I tried with XP and had the same issue.
I noticed that my internal drive is not recognized in the BIOS even though it has been in the machine for 2 years!
So I think my BIOS has a problem. I downloaded the BIOS + utility from Toshiba, created a bootable USB and copied everything, but unfortunately the utility to flash works under Windows. I searched and found a DOS software and there I got an error (system was not new AWARD BIOS version!)

Does anyone have an idea?? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Configuration: TOSHIBA P200-1G2/Windows Vista/ Internet Explorer 8.0

    It's not the right version for your BIOS... what do you have? "AMI, AWARD, PHOENIX..."
    Do you at least manage DOS before diving into this?

    If the installation fails whether it's XP or another, you might have a RAM issue, run a memtest...

    otherwise, try installing a Linux to see if it holds up...

      I already did this test with the Vista recovery console when I still had access, and the RAM was fine. I don't know what to do anymore! Thanks for trying to help me. I went to see a SOS micro (specialized store) and they told me that the motherboard was dead??? But I don't believe it.

    Hi

    before updating the BIOS, maybe try restoring the default settings first

    ( especially since if your drive was recognized before, I don't see the point of flashing the BIOS here... )

    I removed the HDD and reformatted it in an external drive
    For the BIOS, I have already tried the default configuration, with no results; maybe the BIOS has a problem since I can only access it with a USB key or an external USB drive. How can I reinstall Vista?

    It's the BIOS that I downloaded from the TOSHIBA site (there is only one for Win 32) and it's from Phoenix
    For DOS, I can manage,
    If this isn't the right BIOS, where can I find it?

    apparently it is waiting for an AWARD BIOS...

    but as I said, I doubt your issue comes from the BIOS, your old BIOS did recognize the CD/DVD drive at the beginning, right?

    so, the problem probably comes from the drive itself or its connections...

    the ideal would be to check its connection first

    Well spotted, but I've already tried changing it and even putting it on an external drive and it works, that doesn't explain why Vista and XP crash during installation,
    so it’s possible that the motherboard is dead. That’s a problem because this PC isn’t worth the hassle! That's why I’m attempting the BIOS update (nothing to lose!!)

    Hi, it's not coming from the BIOS, it's more from you. Currently, we can install an OS on a laptop or desktop without an internal DVD drive, even from a USB stick.

      Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying, I'm trying it from an external drive and the installation always crashes at the same point
      (note that when it was still working, I regularly had a blue screen with the CRCDISK.SYS loading error)
      that's why I wanted to reformat and start fresh) !!

    maybe your computer is tattooed, and you can only install the OS provided by Toshiba, or something like that.

    Toshiba doesn't tattoo its PCs!
    That's false!
    In the family, several have Toshiba and received their PCs with a system DVD and driver CDs.
    This is not the case for US brands.
    But if there has been tampering in the system, we blame this or that.

      I indeed think that it is not locked because I had already successfully reinstalled Vista. Where can I find the right BIOS with the right software that works under DOS?
      The PC is a TOSHIBA P200-1G2 PSPB6E delivered with VISTA Home Premium
      MOTHERBOARD = ISRAA LA-3441P
      The BIOS I found = bios-20080630110240.zip
      and I tried with PFLASH.EXE

      What should I do?

      This is the very essence of a maintenance technician's job, to make hypotheses and eliminate them one by one...

    You've messed something up with your formatting!
    And you must now have this Boot system problem.
    Maybe your MBR (Master Boot Record)
    Try this > in the BIOS in the BOOT application.
    Click on Load setup default to reset your settings to default.

    Hey guys, I'm answering your questions, but please stay calm, it will be nicer.
    For the BIOS, I've already tried the default settings,
    for the HDD, I reformatted it by putting it in an external USB2 enclosure on another PC,
    Recognized by the BIOS: The Hard Drive, The LAN Network, The USB Stick, no internal drive!
    I can boot from a USB stick or from an external drive.
    So, that's a summary of the situation (not great)
    If you have anything else to suggest, thank you very much for caring about my case!

      Good evening and sorry for the lost time, I downloaded Win7 to try and to my surprise the installation works
      Windows welcome screen, installation choice, and then error message "A CD/DVD drive driver is missing" even though it works since it starts the installation, it's asking me to insert the driver
      my drive is a - RW TS-L632H - and I can't find the driver!!

      Can anyone help me? Thanks
