I don't know if I'm too late,
but in that case, you need to do a reset.
To do this, you need to press three buttons simultaneously: "STOP" - "FOLDER/INDEX" - "DISP/MENU"
A message "initialise set" should appear and you need to confirm by "PLAY/OK"
If the problem persists, you need to take it in for repair.

Thank you for your willingness, but as often on forums, the answer does not correspond to the question.
Formatting or RESET destroys all data stored on the VPC.
The goal is to AVOID this destructive maneuver.
It seems that there is a defect in the device (according to OLYMPUS, and sending it for repair will be expensive for me).
I opted for the solution explained above. Backup on PC and no more locking.
I advise it to those who have this problem.

Sorry, no one is responding. Besides, it's very difficult to navigate this forum. Poor organization, a lot of ads.
I had to reformat my Dictaphone
Now, I systematically transfer to my PC and it serves as protection against deletions, and I no longer lock it.
I am leaving this forum which bores me
Good luck.
