Hello everyone, forum hello
I have a problem with my Harman Kardon AVR 5500
As soon as I turn it on it powers up fine and then within 10 seconds it turns off
I've looked around a bit but I don't see anything special, and it doesn't smell burnt LOL
If someone could point me to a possible cause please, many thanks in advance.
Have a good evening everyone and thanks for your help
Sincerely Ray

On my Sony, I can turn it off (actually to standby) while it’s still on? Is there sound or not?

Oh okay, ten years and overnight, hmm, given the symptoms you describe it seems like it’s had its day, she doesn’t feel it anymore but the overheating could already have happened and that’s why she doesn’t feel it anymore, take it apart, look for black traces.

Hi SBK#1SyKeS,
Thank you for your quick response.
(1) Remind me again of the exact purchase date; I'll do it at 10 years, never had any issue with it.
(2) I looked at your suggestion below, but I’ve never touched that
"Otherwise you’ve looked into the Display brightness"
(3) anyway the amp shuts off after 10 seconds so there’s no time to do anything before it already turns off
I’ll try to find the electronic schematic, hmm not sure I’ll win that
Thanks for your help, it’s nice
Regards, Ray -
yes, overnight it’s been weird
well I opened the hood for the first time, (beautiful beast) LOL
a blast of compressed air, I looked around nothing special
BUT behind, near the power supply the PCB is a bit
brown like slightly burnt, probably from long time ago.
I haven’t found the electronic schematic of the amp yet, I have a bit of
electronic knowledge so I’ll try to repair it myself.
So when I turn it on the amp goes to standby after about 10 seconds, I think there’s a
starter as well ????
there you go, I’ll look for the schematic if possible.
have a good evening and thanks

Hello everyone, forum hello
I couldn't find the electronic schematic of the Harman Kardon AVR 5500 amplifier
I'm probably not looking in the right place, can't be right everywhere LOL
if someone had this schematic, I’m interested.
Thanks to everyone for your help

Hello,
I have the same bug and it did that to me twice. In fact, each time it was the speaker wiring that had a problem.
My conclusion was that it was going into protection.
