1-cut off the damaged part of the sheath.
2-strip the wires by 1 cm on each end.
3-twist the colored wires together
4-plug the headset into the audio output at an acceptable volume
5-heat each wire one by one with a lighter. As soon as the contact is made and you hear it in your ear, stop heating.

For those looking to quickly strip wires, a lighter can only make your task easier. I'm speaking from experience because I've repaired many headphones, etc...

I just spent the afternoon on mine. Stripping the wires requires the patience of a Tibetan monk knowing that they break in fear, and on top of that, they're covered with some kind of insulating coating, which means that the solder has to touch at least one section. Not to mention the DIY to make sure it doesn't come off at the first movement.

So yes, it's repairable, but you need good eyesight, a good soldering iron, steady hands, ideally a multimeter to test the solder joints, and above all, a lot of patience.

Hello, I too had the problem of a headphone cable chewed by my dwarf rabbit. At first, my cable consisted of two glued sheaths, so just the left side of the headphone and the right side. No microphone. I did as suggested in the comments, but it didn't work. I separated the two wires. Stripped the two sheaths and found on one side a copper wire and a red wire, and on the other side, a copper wire and a blue wire. I connected them with solder: on one side the red wires and the copper wires together for one ear, and the copper wires and blue wires together for the other ear. But this yielded no results. I puzzled over it for a while and eventually figured out what was wrong. I got back to work, and this time I soldered the red wires together, and the copper wires together as well, making sure they weren't in contact, and did the same on the other side. And now it works!

No, you just need to buy or get a cable that you will solder into the headset; it takes a maximum of 30 minutes.

Do certain cables have the same wire colors as this one*? Because I lost the end with the jack plugs and I don't know if taking one from another headset would match?

Thank you, guys! I was struggling to retrieve my headset and its cut cable (just like a cat, me too) and you clarified things for me: a quick use of a lighter before joining the cables and everything is fixed :-).

Yeah, but I have a Skullcandy and it doesn't work anymore because the plug for the audio jack is almost detached, so I would like to know how to fix it.
