Hello,
While cleaning up my hard drive, I noticed that I have a NTUSER.DAT file that I can't delete. And I understood from browsing the forum that it's an unwanted file!
I downloaded Hijackthis v2.0.2. But beyond that, I'm not quite sure what to do. The tutorial provided on one of the forums seems to have been removed from the site.
I'm on Windows XP.
Thank you for helping a troubled soul with their computer issues!

The NTUSER.DAT file(s) is part of the registry for each user's environment on your computer...
ntuser.dat is a Windows file that contains the content and information of the HKEY_LOCAL_USER key in the registry,
so you should not delete this file!
So you can imagine what will happen if you modify/delete it manually, you might (probably) need to reinstall your Windows
user = user
I don't know where you saw it was dangerous

Great answer I was waiting for.
I believe it's in this file that the fbdownloader search is hiding. Every time I open Google Chrome, fbdownloader displays its page, which I close by clicking on the blue diamond that opens a Google tab; as soon as the tab appears, I close the other one. It only reappears if I shut down the PC. I realized that this file, when I hover the mouse over it, shows me the time I had started it. To be sure, I went to check all the history. I'm not a pro, but if this helps someone, it will be all the better.
