Hello,
I recently acquired a Hauppauge HD PVR digital capture box.
It captures in MP4 >> H.264 video format and AAC audio.
I have installed all the necessary drivers and the VirtualDub plugins, yet I am unable to either import the videos created with the box or capture directly via VirtualDub.
The software provided with this box is very poor, which is why I wanted to move away from it.
Thank you for your help.
Louve.

Hello louve69,
If you're having trouble using VD (it tends to be very variable with MP4s, sometimes it accepts them, sometimes not) with your files, you can try Avidemux, which is similar but more flexible (it doesn't do 'capture' though), basically works with all kinds of files.
To convert your files, there are other software options like MediaCoder, the SUPER software, Format Factory, Quick Media Converter HD, etc.
However, with VD, try using AviSynth (DirectShow input drivers), in case it can accept files like that, but it's not guaranteed. Also, we sometimes lose the audio :-/
Best regards
