Question

Hello, I have a problem with my PS3. Whenever I try to play a game, I always get a message saying: unable to complete the trophy information save, the game will be closed. What should I do???

Yeah same here, I’ve been getting the message "unable to complete trophy information recording" since I added the PES 2010 downloadable content (about 2.5 hours ago). It was working fine, but after I restarted the console, the game won’t launch anymore...
I’ve tried uninstalling the downloaded content and the latest saves, but it still won't start.

And it won't connect to PS Network either to sync the trophies...
If someone can find a solution, that would be great. Thanks.

For several hours, Sony has been experiencing a rather unusual problem: the earliest models of the PS3, dating back to before 2009, are all affected by a similar bug, the first manifestation of which is a reset of the date to 01/01/2000, or even to 1999 or 2001 for some. Unfortunately, the issue does not stop there; the PlayStation Network has become inaccessible, the console can no longer synchronize Trophies, and certain games can no longer be launched on the affected machines, notably Heavy Rain and Darksiders. The same goes for PSN games, some of which will refuse to work due to a rights issue. According to Sony, the problem will be resolved within the day.

It has nothing to do with the games, it’s the last update, it was implemented in the PlayStation NETWORK for a duration of 30 days, however, the month of February only lasted 28 days. Honestly, it's a completely stupid mistake by Sony lol, they must be laughing about it, lol.  But seriously, I also think we won't be able to play today, I would say a week at most, because they need to study the problem in detail to come up with a proper corrective update (they shouldn't rush and risk introducing more complications with this update). Here's the situation:  A bug in the PS3 firmware prevents the date from moving past March 1, 2010, on PS3 FAT models. It has absolutely nothing to do with the PlayStation Network; it's a bug coming from the internal clock of the console (not the one that displays the date and time on the screen, there's no point in changing those). This clock is stupidly looking for a February 29 that doesn't exist, which prevents trophy updates and connections to the PSN. The problem does not occur on PS3 Slims as they are newer and set up differently.

The only thing to do is to wait for Sony to release a patch that will need to be installed on the console via a USB stick (well, without PSN there’s no download). There's even talk that it could be a hardware issue rather than a software one, so let’s hope they can fix it with a patch as we wish, but given the time they’re taking, it must not be simple at Sony's offices.

So, we just have to wait patiently without saying everything and anything, it doesn't help and serves no purpose, even if it can be relaxing from time to time.

I have the same problem as you today. Apparently, it's a worldwide bug from Sony, and I've heard that Sony is giving us updates on PS3 specifically to ruin the consoles to boost their sales because with their updates, there is no trace left. We can't prove anything if your console doesn't work anymore, obviously people will buy another console from a store, so it's profitable for Sony, and we're being taken in without being able to prove anything.

It’s just to say that it bugs just because of a clock. There are solutions, like on several forums they said you could remove an internal battery from the clock... but you have to disassemble your PS3, which isn't worth it. There will be an update or something else by tomorrow in my opinion, but don’t worry about the lost trophies and all that. In my opinion, the lost trophies are due to the clock being bugged and the date going back, which means that the trophies you had are no longer there. The best thing you can do to not worsen your situation is to do nothing and keep yourself informed about new developments. Hoping that Sony resolves this very quickly to fill the lack of games in the meantime ^^ the Japanese have found a solution.
