Save your micro application video tapes

Solved

Hello,
You are very lucky.
As for me, this software does not work on Vista, I can't open any videos (except MOVI) in the Editing function and in Acquisition. I get the message: "1, 2, 3 has stopped working... Windows will shut down."
It's a mess, I've contacted the technical support of Micro Application who couldn't get me out of this situation!
On the other hand, it works on XP, except that with the VCR the playback is in black and white!
I think I'm going to return everything, there must be something better out there.
If anyone can help me...
Thank youConfiguration: Windows XP and Vista Internet Explorer 8

Hi everyone

I have no issues with the Micro Application software to save your video tapes

Here are some explanations

With a camcorder, there's no problem; the image is in color and there's sound
I have a Vista computer
The camcorder sends the image in PAL and since the Micro Application software is set to PAL by default, there’s no issue; the image is in color.

I choose USB 2861 drive and select it to get the sound sent by my camcorder
I chose Line (2 USB audio devices) and I start the playback on the camcorder; the image appears on the software interface, and I click the red record button below

For a VCR, there are adjustments to be made

The image sent by the VCR is in SECAM and the software is in PAL
So the image is BLACK AND WHITE... that's normal

You need to make an adjustment... below and to the right of USB 2861.. there's Properties? Click on it and choose
Video capture device and select SECAM instead of PAL
For the sound, there’s no problem; like the camcorder, Line (2 USB audio devices)
Send the image from the VCR and here’s a color image with sound

Hello.
I'm glad to find someone who has managed to get this software working.
Personally, I've tried everything and returned the hardware for a refund... at their request!
The driver you referenced: USB2861, is that the one from Micro Application? I can't remember... because in the video device window, the webcam and the capture and conversion key from M.A appeared, so I made that choice, but I can't recall the name of the driver.
Since then, I've acquired a USB EASYCAP key coming from China on eBay for €10, and I'm also having problems; I feel like they're the same keys and that the issue is a matter of driver for this famous key. The capture software (there are several) is, after all, just a matter of configuration, I think.
I'll do more tests, but there's a lot of time to spend on this kind of product!
Please remind me if the driver in question: USB2861 is indeed the original one provided with the CD.
Catch you later!

Hello!!

I recently bought "Save Your Video Tapes". I tried to "capture" my videos from Mini DV tapes. I connected my camcorder, the image displayed correctly on my computer, I started recording, no problem... until a certain point; the image on the laptop freezes while on the camcorder it keeps running, and in the recording window on the computer the recording time is still running so I thought that if it’s still running there, then the recording must be continuing. Once the video is finished, I check the result and I end up with a clip of just over a minute, whereas on the tape it lasts much longer!!

Has anyone else experienced the same issue?
Do you have any idea what the problem might be?
How can I fix it??

Thanks in advance!

Hello.
I couldn’t get this software to work properly on WINDOWS7, nor on X.P.
I sent everything back to Micro Application after consulting them and they were powerless! (and their request).
I’m looking for another solution, M.A software often gives me problems.
I ordered an easy cap from Ebay, cheap, I also have problems that I’m trying to resolve, but I didn’t spend a fortune (€10) and at least I have the Ulead software which is good. Now I just need to solve the driver issue for the USB key, which apparently is the same as the one provided by M.A.

Thank you for the quick response.
I appreciate that on this forum, we can reply directly via messaging without getting lost in the maze like with other forums.
Finally, I've been looking for several days... retired and it's snowing, so I need something to occupy my time!
I will return the Micro Application product to the sender.
I found other products like EASYCAP USB 2.0 sold on eBay for €12 with no shipping costs.
It comes from China, the USB key seems to be the same, coincidentally, and the software offered is Ulead V10.
Of course, you hear all sorts of things on the forums..... you have to take what seems best, and there are good options!

I have done some tests, using the M.A key (converter) and the Ulead software that I installed separately, and the result is satisfactory; from the VCR, I get color, and from the camcorder, it's even better.
I noted that adjustments are essential for getting color, but it's possible; you have to take your time and not rush.
The Ulead software is much more efficient than what M.A offers.
My only problem is that I haven't tried it on Vista, but I have confidence.
The issue is related to the compatibility between Vista and the offered software, and everyone knows how much trouble Vista can cause!
Thank you and see you later.

I can't manage to capture; I'm getting error messages: no video has been captured, please check if there is a valid input signal. It may be that no device is selected or
Capture failed, the created file is corrupted and unusable; it will be automatically deleted
please get this thorn out of my side.

Hello
if your result is in B/W be careful with the converter: does it handle SECAM, it surely does PAL but in France almost all tapes are in SECAM and you'll need a PAL/SECAM converter or a "capture card" PAL SECAM which can be an adapter with a USB on one side and RCA audio + video on the other, do a search on Google with this terminology. Digital Video Converter (Plextor and other brands..)
Ps: is it worth the effort because professional labs charge high prices to do it?
cheers

Hello
I just bought this software and I have no issues; it processes PAL VHS and SECAM VHS, you just need to go to video capture properties and select PAL or SECAM

Hello, the page is glitching. It opens, I save my key, then I can't do anything else, not even close it! And if I open it with troubleshooting, it works great but asks me for the registration key as soon as I click on save! If anyone has the solution???

Hello.
I confirm that the EzCap key purchased from Amazon works perfectly. The Showbiz software provided with it is excellent.
I have digitized all my analog films and VHS without any issues.
I highly recommend this very inexpensive purchase.

Hello everyone, I've just purchased and installed this software "Save Your Tapes" as well. The image and sound of the personal movie on the VHS tape are perfect when playing on the software, but once I click on RECORD, the image freezes or there is no image at all. What should I do? Thank you (with W7-32mb)

Hello
For mini DV digital tapes, you need a computer equipped with Windows Movie Maker, which is part of the products provided by Microsoft originally. If you don't have it and you have a license, you can download it from the Microsoft website. Then, if your camcorder is equipped for it, you need to get a FireWire IEEE cable... (I forgot the number, but the sellers know). Once everything is connected, you copy directly from the camcorder to the computer, and after that, you can edit, etc.

The FireWire cable is named IEEE1394; of course, not all computers have FireWire, that's the first trap, and certain camcorders like Sony do not either, that's the second trap.
See you later!

Hello,

For my part, I have never been able to launch this software. After entering the serial number, it crashed and keeps crashing on the first launch screen. Has anyone experienced this issue (on XP)?

Yes, the problem is still not solved.
The famous EASY cap key bought in China (€10) does not work! I have the impression, confirmed by friends on the forums, that they are copies and there seems to be an unsolvable driver issue... it seems. Following this problem identified by the manufacturer, they renamed their company to EzCap, the product would be EzCap 116 USB 2.0 for a cost of around twenty euros (on Amazon).
I am therefore hesitating between purchasing this famous key; according to users, there are also issues, but it's hard to get a clear idea because there are often problems related to configuration, or I go back to Micro Application, maybe I haven't explored this application enough.
To be continued......

Hello everyone

I have been "browsing" this forum for 8 days trying to find a solution to purchase the software and... it's a total disaster, nothing is working correctly and at 64 years old, I'm not very computer savvy, it's not joyful... first of all, I don’t have the USB 2861 Device option in the video peripheral window but WDM 2861 Capture!!! Moreover, the recording is very poor... a lot of gray and static... sometimes a bit of image and the sound disappears, I'm losing hope. Thank you for the help and I'm ready to give my phone number for online assistance.

A priori, the combination of USB 2861 Device with Windows Movie Maker yields much more reliable and convincing results than the cumbersome software - which requires an Internet connection to download the Mpeg codecs - provided by Micro Application.
