It depends on several things. For the charging time, around two hours, but it depends on the age of the controller. Then, for the battery life, it depends if you use the vibration function which consumes the most, the distance between the controller and the PS3, and the style of play (games that require you to constantly press multiple buttons will drain your controller faster, so I can't tell you precisely; consider the battery life to be between 20 hours and 40 hours).
