SM Bus Controller Driver / Win XP Pro / To

Solved

Hello everyone,
I'm stuck on a problem I've been dealing with for a while.
I've found quite a few topics discussing the issue on this site, but all have more or less different answers. I've had a lot of trouble with my PC, so I reinstalled windows XP pro on the laptop, a TOSHIBA satellite L300D - 23U, and then I reinstalled the appropriate drivers for sound, graphics card, etc., etc., etc...
However, for the past few weeks, I haven't been able to find a driver for the SM bus controller.
All the topics talk about Intel Chipset; I don't really know what that is...
My processor is an AMD SEMPRON.
I've installed SIW to get my configuration details.
I also went to alllesdrivers.com, and they list this device as "unknown".
I should mention that I checked the Toshiba website for driver downloads, but I don't know which one to choose; it's all gibberish to me...

Thanks in advance for your help
Configuration: Windows XP pro AMD sempron SI42

In the Device Manager, right-click on: "SM bus controller" (where you have the yellow exclamation mark) properties => details.
In the dropdown menu, select: "hardware ID".
Post the information. (sequence of numbers and letters)

copy only the first line, that's enough.

It's an AMD chipset and not Intel.

You need to install this driver manually.
    http://d6.devid.info/drv/74/ven_1002_dev_4385.zip
Create a new folder on your desktop, download the driver, place it in the new folder, and extract the driver.

-Open Device Manager, right-click on: "SM Bus Controller" => "Update Driver".
    -Check: "No, not this time".
    -Click "Next".
-Check: "Install from a list or specific location".
    -Click "Next".
-Click "Browse" and select: the folder with the extracted driver.
    -Restart the PC.

    last small question,
it is recognized now but when I go to properties, it says
"No driver is installed for this device.
If you are having problems with this device, click on Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter."

    is this normal?

    Hi,

the bus controller SM corresponds well to the chipset.

Do you have any yellow question marks in the Device Manager? If so, where?

Right-click on "My Computer" then choose "Properties", tab "Hardware" then click on the "Device Manager" button

I have "? other device" with a big question mark in front
    and in this other device,

If you no longer see the yellow dot, it means it's installed, no worries.
