Hello,
I'm reaching out to you because I don't know what to do anymore.
Two days ago, I was peacefully on my PC when it turned off by itself before
restarting, and to my surprise,
my screen is divided into four vertically.
Vista launches and gets stuck on the repair tools, which I'm trying to apply
as best as I can, but nothing works.
It always restarts in the same way.
I tried to reinstall the factory image from the designated partition.
It formats and restores the contents,
but the PC still restarts with the screen divided into four.
I then reach a blue background with inscriptions that I can't read.
I notice that it goes up to 100 percent,
then it shuts down, restarts, and nothing more, just a black screen.
I hope I was clear in my post.
I don't understand anything anymore.
I attempted to reinstall with the DVD, but it doesn't even start.
Is my PC and/or my hard drive dead?
Thank you for the attention you're giving me.

The access via F11 works and I arrive at the recovery partition
that's where I see these blue and green lines
I've just asked for a partition diagnostic
I'm waiting

He doesn't have to change his motherboard; he can simply buy a new graphics card if that's the problem.
Yeah, but I think the problem will come back. It's exactly the same symptoms I've seen. The Windows not starting up on top of everything else. Turn it off and on several times, you'll see that the screen will start splitting again. Back up your data quickly, as soon as you manage to boot into Windows.
Hammer the F8 key during startup, before the Windows logo appears, and select "start with the last known good configuration."

As for my BIOS
I could possibly access it, but I can't read anything; it's all divided into 4 screens and it's impossible to read.

Hello everyone.
If you have the same symptom in the BIOS, there's no point in going any further, as it means your problem is definitely hardware-related, sorry.
Just so you know, on these models, the graphics card is soldered onto the motherboard.....

Ahh, a miracle, perhaps.
Does the access via F11 work or not?
Otherwise, press F5 several times until the boot manager appears. Press F8 once
Choose "disable automatic restart on failure..."

On the other hand, now I have my normal screen but I have small blue and green vertical lines
is that a problem?
is that a problem?
If you have lines on the recovery partition, that's still not a good sign....
The more time goes by, the closer we get to a hardware failure.....--

Hello,
you know they are right, it's the graphics chipset that is failing little by little, it's only a matter of time, anticipate a replacement of your motherboard.
quick question to everyone: where can we buy a laptop motherboard, thank you for your answers

My diagnosis of the partitions is finished and there's no issue on that side.
I also thought of something.
The lines do not appear when I'm in the BIOS.
For now, I'm formatting the PC and we'll see what happens.
I'm reinstalling Windows.

I'm sorry to say this, it's normal to want to try everything but if the problem appears as soon as you turn on the PC (the duplicated display), that is to say well before Windows loads, it means that Windows is not to blame and reinstalling it will not fix your issue. A hardware failure cannot be repaired by software!
Hi, I have the same problem as you. I was told that the motherboard was dead and that it would cost me around 300 euros.
I just saw that you claimed on your home insurance; I didn't think they covered computer repairs. Could you confirm that for me and tell me what you said to them?
Thanks, Anthony.

I think the graphics card is dead; I've seen this before. Are there also red and blue stripes on the screen from the startup?
Unfortunately, if the graphics card is dead, there's nothing to be done except replace the motherboard, which costs as much as a laptop!!
