Always a white screen on PC startup!!

Question

Hello, I was able to leave a message here before, but since my problem hasn't been resolved, I'm reposting a topic. To re-explain my issue, here it is. For the past few days, I've had a problem when I start my PC. When I power it on, everything works except that instead of my "desktop" appearing, I have a blank screen. I see nothing at all but white. What I do is press the "Power" button on the screen, wait, and when I turn it back on, everything works again, and I see my desktop. However, when I use the restart function on my PC, it works, and I don’t see the blank screen, which is strange. I don’t think it’s my graphics card since I already changed it. If someone could help me and explain this, that would be really nice. Thanks.

Hello Emilie,

What's with all the white ... ??? Can you see anything behind this white layer or nothing at all?
Do you see the cursor moving when this white screen appears ... ??? You might have caught some bad spyware or a virus in my opinion, or there might be an unwanted process launching at startup on your computer that's causing this white screen ...
Does it only happen at startup or at other times ... ???

If you want, I can take control of your computer to see what might be wrong ...

Hello there! Well, when my PC is on, the screen is all white so I can't see anything, I can't see my desktop. I press the Power button and then it works again. It only happens at startup, but my PC boots normally, I see the Windows logo, then I just see the white screen instead of my desktop. Otherwise, when I move my mouse, I can't see the cursor. I don't think it's my graphics card, at least I hope not, I've already changed it! Is there something else giving up?? Otherwise, my PC works when I'm browsing, it's just the white screen at the beginning.

It's clear that the best option is to reformat and reinstall Windows, but I can't do it myself, I didn't receive a CD to reinstall Windows when I bought the PC. I have a Compaq, Fujitsu Siemens.

Personally, since it's a problem that occurs randomly, I wouldn't know what to advise you... Maybe you have a faulty RAM stick and that's why it's showing you this white screen at startup, but I'm not 100% sure of my diagnosis... It could also very well be coming from Windows, in which case you should try a complete reinstall of your Windows + software, but since this problem doesn't prevent you from surfing the web, I think for now you can leave your PC as it is...

It would also be interesting to clean up your computer with an antivirus scan and Ccleaner to see if it might be a temporary file that launches at startup and causes chaos on your computer... Also check if you have the option to test with other RAM sticks to see if the result is the same...

Thank you for the reply!!! The problem is still there. Still that white screen when I turn on my PC. Instead of seeing my desktop with the icons, I see this white screen. I don't know if it's coming from my monitor or something like my hard drive (even though I changed it along with my graphics card). I think I'll wait a bit and then I'll have my PC checked by "pros." In going to my device manager, I looked around a bit. By clicking on some names, it says that no driver is installed for this device. Is that normal?

What's strange is that it only happens to me at startup. If it were something like a graphics card or hard drive, it wouldn't just happen at startup, right?

Re!! I managed to install a few new drivers, or rather update them. I downloaded and installed 2. After restarting my PC, no more white screen :DDDDDDDDDDDDDD lol. I'm keeping my fingers crossed (yn). So I think that was the issue. I had one left to download from the site but I didn't do it; for now, it's working.

Well, for several days, I had this white thing at startup and on the desktop, nowhere else.

If you go through all my driver.com, it's drugs that can lead to your problems, go through Windows Update, it's the best there is in terms of updates.
