Ah! Free's beautiful promises at €29.90/month all included! ALL included, no, not everything, actually there's a missing human customer service that's reachable like local France Telecom agencies, it also lacks the fact that Free is not the owner of the physical network, so they constantly shift the blame to their historical commercial enemy, there's no hotline where you don't pay when you're left waiting, there's no free cancellation!, there's a lack of user-friendly equipment where you don't have to unplug it 4 times and perform manipulations worthy of the Middle Ages of computing (like a reset button, for example), there's a lack of..., there's a lack of..., there's a lack of..., ...
If you didn't understand anything about Free, it means everything is included.
Well, I understand myself.

PS: The fact that people subscribed to Free end up asking for assistance on forums sums it all up.

Hello, you're nice but name me one single ISP whose customers don't come asking for help on forums...

Hi

Overall, I'm quite happy with FREE despite the issues
In my opinion, it's the least bad of the ISPs for individuals
It's true that the hotline is a bit lacking when we manage to reach them.

Hello,
Since this morning my Freebox is not working anymore (the loading animation is moving very slowly) so there’s no internet access and no phone!
And when I only plug my landline into the phone socket, there's no dial tone either...
Who is supposed to fix all this??? Free? France Telecom?? (I’m fully unbundled)

Hello, I'm picking up the discussion from VANESSA three months late. I'm not going to give you miracle solutions; I've been with FREE like you for almost a year and I've faced the same difficulties. However, we should also consider the telephone installation you have. Maybe it's very old (mine was installed in 1962), and perhaps there is a legal recourse possible with the historical operator (to have them provide you with a new line throughout your building). My question remains open, and I'm waiting for a response for you... and for me in the same instance. Good luck and greetings from BOCDAN.

Hello, there's nothing really new to teach you about FREE. I think you need a very good connection... (I’m particularly thinking about the electrical transformer of the ADSL box as well as the other HD box (each outlet with ground...)) and then occasionally do a heart reboot as FREE suggests. For the rest, it's pretty much the same everywhere. Looking forward to fiber optics, it will be more stable... Have a good evening. BOCDAN.

Nobody can answer me?
Since 2004, my Freebox has been working well, and since January 4th, there's no dial tone for calling from my Freebox line
I am on partial unbundling, I kept my France Telecom subscription
but I can no longer call from my Freebox line
I've hard rebooted and done a simple boot!!!!
Still the same
After discussions with the chat support, nothing!!!!
Help!
Thank you

complement of information
internet is working well
where to find a transformer if it comes from the transformer?

if 8888 on the Freebox wasn't looking for it, it's sure and certain that it comes from the transformer.
don't try a transformer (purchased from a store) other than the one from Free because it won't work.
contact them, they will send you a nearly identical one.

I just experienced the same problem as you: no more tone on a non-unbundled online fbx v4.
So I sent an email through Free's support site and after 2 emails, they assured me
that they would send me a transformer as soon as possible! I encourage you to do the same!

Hello,

I had the same problem as you two days ago (no tone) and by changing the transformer, I found the tone again.

Hi,

So here I just had Free installed for internet, TV, and phone, but again, there's no dial tone.

I just bought it, and now I have to buy a power supply? :s

Hi everyone,
I have the same problem and I'm currently chatting with Free, I will probably ask for a new transformer to be sent as soon as possible :)

Have a good day ++

Hello, thank you for your advice, I think I have the same problem with my ali block. But there is no reference noted to get another one at an electronics store. I've had the FBX since 02/06, can you help me?

Hi,

At the beginning of February, I had the same problems as you all!!! No tone on the phone connected to the Freebox.

Then, a new symptom a few days later, no television (frozen on "Rock'n Roll")...

Then, a few days later, the synchronization issues started. So no internet at certain times (and since I work from home, this is no longer funny at all!).

Today I am starting to search for a solution. After reading about the problems you all encountered, I started looking for a freenaute among my acquaintances (thank you Alain!!) who was willing to lend me his transformer for a little test.
That was done this evening, and the result was as significant as yours: no more connection issues, tone restored on the phone, and the television is working very well again!

So I will start searching for a brand new transformer tomorrow (since I had to return the borrowed one because they didn't want to do an exchange despite my insistence…).

P.S.: My transformer even started crackling this evening... I might be in an extreme case of this problem!!!

P.S.2: My Freebox is a v4 type and is exactly 2 years old (February 2006). Defective batch???

See you soon and thank you all for the resolution.

Christophe.

Hello,

I haven't had a dial tone on my phone for 3 weeks. I'm told it's the power supply, but when I change the adapter, the problem persists.

I've also had the Freebox for 2 years! So it might be a faulty batch; if that's the case, what can I do to get heard????

Thank you.

I threw away my old rotary phone from the 70s because I thought it wasn’t working. With the new phone, I still have the same problem: no dial tone and I can hear the TV as an echo.

I tried to connect the phone directly to the back of the Freebox but it doesn’t work; I can make calls but I can’t hear the person on the other end... and when the phone is supposed to ring, it doesn’t ring.

The phone worked perfectly for over a year on my V5, so I don’t understand why it suddenly stopped, if anyone has an idea I’m all ears ;)

Hi, I've had the same problem as you for 15 days. How did you solve it? I temporarily swapped the transformer but it's negative. Thanks for your reply.

Since this morning, there is no telephone tone even though the Freebox is working. What is the procedure? Knowing that it doesn't come from the phone...

I had the same problem: for several days there was a lot of "static", then it got worse to the point of not hearing conversations at all, and finally it ended up with no tone at all. The FreeBox is working, the time is displayed, Internet connection is OK. I am on unbundled ADSL.
After testing the phone handset on the Fr.Télécom line (test OK), replacing it with another one (just in case), and doing "hard reboots", changing the ADSL filters, the problem persists.
I contacted Free's hotline, and they told me that the issue was due to the power supply of the FreeBox and that they would send me a new one.
Skeptical and having an electronics background, before receiving the new power supply, I used a 12-volt lab power supply in place of the one from the Freebox. And indeed it works!
It seems the power supply is no longer "providing" enough to power the phone part but is sufficient for the rest. So I am waiting for their power supply.
Hoping that this answer can help others, best regards.

Hello, no more phone this morning.

Storm continues over Lille, impossible to make calls with Freebox: no dial tone.
Cannot call or be called.
I am therefore contacting Free with my mobile: without success other than spending 40 EUR for nothing.
Free customer service is terrible; they truly take consumers for fools.

As a delegate of a consumer association, I fully intend to contact the DGCCRF and
suggest to all dissatisfied FREE subscribers to do the same.

The company FREE has a contractual obligation to deliver on its package at 29.99 EUR
which means: a functioning phone line, unlimited internet access, and TV.
If any of these functions are not working, you have the right to take legal action.

I am in the same situation.
I changed the phone and the charger and I still have no dial tone for 7 days.
How can I join this consumer association to denounce this dishonest behavior?

Hello everyone,
I also experience phone dropouts during conversations, with a loss of dial tone.
After discussing with customer support, I changed the power supply unit of the Freebox (purchased directly from Free for €5 + €5 for shipping). This didn't change my issue with the dropouts and loss of dial tone.

Hi, I just received the Freebox v5 after eight days without phone service. It worked for two days and then, bam, no phone again.

Is the power supply issue still relevant?

If not, what should I replace it with (a website?)

Thanks for your help.

I confirm that the problem is still current. I changed the power supply this morning and it works again!
(I hadn't had a phone for two days)
