Hello, first of all, excuse me if the answer has already been given to my question, but after some research, I haven't found a precise solution. So, here’s my question: How do you create a return to the table of contents in the footer of a Word document?
(So far, I can only create a link to the table of contents that only works if I enter the footer editing window...)
Thank you in advance for your answers

Hello,
I don't really see the point of having a link in the footer to go to the table of contents.
As Raymond pointed out, it will always require going to the footer to click on the link...
It's enough to install a button on the toolbar that allows you to return to the table of contents. If you don't know how to customize the toolbar, I've explained everything here:

The command is called AtteindreTableMatières and you will find it in the category "All commands".

Well! You have answered your question:
The header and footer are areas outside the text, precisely to avoid any unfortunate intrusion.
Therefore, you cannot access them without going through the editing window.
It is in PowerPoint that there is an undo button and a button to return to the first slide.
A word processor is not designed like a presentation.
Our VBA specialist friends might be able to suggest a macro that would give this property to a keyboard shortcut.
In the meantime, if your table of contents is on the first or last page of the document, you just need to use the existing shortcuts ctrl+home or ctrl+end
