Housing DV blocked open on Sony DCR-HC35 Solved

Question

Hello,
Following a tape change, the compartment no longer closes. However, I didn't force it at all!!!
Looking closely, it doesn’t seem like anything is blocking the automatic closure.
Has this happened to anyone before?
Can you help me?

I have exactly the same problem!

The cassette compartment of my camcorder refuses to close as it used to, yet I've never damaged it, I take great care of it!

I'm afraid to take it apart in case I break an irreparable part...

Hello, if it doesn’t close when empty, it means there’s a part that is located where it shouldn't be!! Either it's broken, or it's not returning properly... Could there be a small piece of the previous tape stuck inside?

Hello; Same problem with a DCR-HC35. It happened after I replaced the original 7.2V battery with a new one from Sony, but at 6.8 volts (NP-FH50). I also have an error message on the screen asking me to reconnect the power source (whether I'm on battery or AC, the same message appears). Personally, I think the internal electronics have "blown a fuse," but despite examining the mechanical components with a magnifying glass and performing a full reset, nothing has changed. If my experience can help move things forward.... I hesitate to send it back to Sony because it would cost me the price of a new one...!

Hi, I had exactly the same problem with my DCR-HC37. I looked a bit at the mechanism, etc... without disassembling it. And I didn't get the impression that it was faulty. I also didn't go to the customer service. But I found a slight solution for changing a cassette, and I think it would be good to share it with you as well as with users who will soon have the same problem.  First of all, open the compartment and remove the cassette. Now turn off the camera and set it to OFF. Insert the new cassette and make sure to close the metal compartment by pushing it slightly towards the back (without pushing it completely to the back, just enough to close the cassette holder as much as you can for now). Hold this position and turn on the camera; the system should recognize that the reader is open and should close in a few moments.  I don't know if you understood and if it will work for you, but I was lucky enough to change 3 cassettes like this... -- Musically, DJ Fire-Bl@ck.

I have the same problem too, but I don't understand your solution... Actually, on my side, I can insert the cassette, but the compartment doesn't come down. As soon as I put it under tension, it ejects the cassette... ... ...

Hello, I had the same issue.

In fact, the battery was almost drained, so it wouldn't close the cassette compartment. Maybe it required too much energy...

I just removed and reinserted the battery, and the compartment closed!

Good evening,

For my part, the problem was the same even with the camcorder plugged into the socket.

Since I used Fire-Black's trick, it works like before, so I think it was a software issue; the system thinks the lid is closed when it's actually open, so it doesn't initiate the closing procedure.

I'm increasingly bitter about new technologies.
It's like changing a simple high beam bulb on a Fiat Stilo... (2h).

The smaller and more compact it is, the more likely there will be minor issues that are probably trivial but incredibly difficult to find.
The whole digital aspect will also have its failures :/

Same problem with the painful hours, and after trying everything, I went to a Canadian website, I think, and here's what I found: a video explaining how to unlock the mechanism part. After following the instructions to the letter, it works very well. Be careful though, it's not without risk, but it's easy.

Hello,
I just came across this site. My problem was with my DCR-HC35E camcorder. The mini DV was ejected, the compartment wouldn’t close, and it was displaying a flashing error message "reconnect the power" code C:32:11.
I did several tests by removing the battery, reconnecting it... I managed to close the compartment but still got the same error message and it was impossible to eject it... So I did a RESET, removed the battery, and plugged in the power supply. Then I turned off the camcorder for a few seconds. I turned it back on while keeping the mini-DV compartment closed. Everything returned to normal. No more error message and everything works fine.
I hope this procedure can help some of you.

Same problem. After visiting quite a few sites and doing what they suggested,
even going so far as to slap my camcorder, I simply turned it off, removed the battery, and then put it back on. For me, it worked and it still works.

I had the same problem unfortunately after several attempts I broke a mechanical part of the lock. As a result, it is unlocked but no longer closes automatically, the rest works well.

Hello everyone,
If the error code is C 32 11, it means the "gear mode" sensor is stuck (cogwheel), which keeps the cam in the open position and makes it impossible to close the cassette compartment. The temporary solution is on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nx6WQWdo92k It took me 10 minutes and everything is back to normal, but there is no guarantee that the issue won't come back. The sensor needs to be replaced (there's also a video available on YouTube for replacing it).
