Hello,
my son is having an issue with my TI College calculator
unfortunately I no longer have the manual
so here it is: for example, 5 + -2, he types 5 + (-2) and the calculator gives us a SYNTAX Err
every time he has calculations with negative numbers and unfortunately that's the case right now
even to do - something + - something
impossible
does anyone have a solution for this calculator
thank you
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Yes, it's the button at the bottom right.
It is used to reverse the sign +/- of a number displayed on the screen. This is interesting when the result of an operation is negative but we need to use its absolute value, for example to extract the square root.
But a middle school student has no need to type 5 + [-] 2 =
when it is enough for them to type 5 - 2 =.
I still believe that the teacher's goal was not to make him use this button ...

    Very friendly, dear Éric!

      Re,

No, sorry. It is indeed meant to input the sign of a relative number.

      Another example:
      10 ^ (-) 2 ENTER
      which gives 10^-2 or 0.01

I still believe that the teacher's intention was not to make him use that key ...
For me, the question is clear:
e.g.: 5+-2, so he types 5 + (-2) and then the calculator writes SYNTAX Err
every time he has calculations with negative numbers
