How to tell if hard drive is 2.5 or 3.5

Hello,

I would like to check if my computer's internal hard drive is 2.5 or 3.5.

    In general:
    2.5 => laptop
    3.5 => desktop

    Okay, I took it out of an old computer, and I would like to make it work as an external hard drive.

    So I need to buy a power supply since it's a 3.5"? Is there a way to check it still?

      What do you want to check? The size? Get a ruler! And convert inches to cm! As for the rest, indeed, 3.5" HDDs are very rarely bus-powered when used as external HDDs.
