What to keep in program files?

Hello, first of all I want to clarify that I'm not very good with computers :D.

Next, my computer is getting slower and slower, so I want to do some organizing. In the Add/Remove Programs list, there are quite a few software programs that I don’t even recognize, that I don’t know what they're for and that apparently take up a lot of space. I would like to know if it's important to keep software in Program Files named "MSE cache," "Need2find," "Mozilla Firefox" (considering I use Explorer), "Java" (I’m not really sure what this thing is for), "Instafink," "iformat_v403bd," "Hewlett-Packard," and "Altnet"?

* I have Windows XP

I’m not sure if I was clear, but we'll see if someone understands :) .

Thank you
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

    Hello

    A tip: when you don't know what it is, don't delete it!
    On the other hand, don't delete anything directly in Program files; to uninstall a program, go through the Control Panel, add/remove programs.

      Hello Alex,
      If you go through the control panel, add/remove programs: an uninstallation program also removes entries in the "Registry," for example, which prevents future PC malfunctions.
