Hello,

When we talk about IP range on the internet, what does it actually mean?

Is it the number of addressable machines?
For example, an address like 192.168.1.1/24, its IP range is 255 addresses?

So from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.255?

Did I understand correctly or not?

    Range IP means IP address range. So indeed it is a set of consecutive IP addresses.

    The /24 notation is called CIDR, more info here: http://www.commentcamarche.net/contents/internet/le cidr

    Hey my buddy !!
    Example of this IP address 192.168.1.0 /24
    The network IP address is 192.168.1.0 and the other addresses are from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254
    It's a range of IP addresses "address range" with the address 192.168.1.255 being a broadcast address
    In French, it's called "adresse de diffusion" which allows us to contact the entire network.
