Hello everyone, I downloaded the demo of Alien vs Predator but I have a problem that I don't understand.

Actually, when I launch the game via Steam, my screen goes black and here's what it says:

DSUB
Out of range
33.7KHz/30Hz

And this only happens for Alien

Here's my HD screen:

Can someone help me understand and fix this problem? Please

Just a tip, run your game in 1024x768 in-game, not in 1920..
And no need to be in safe mode to change the refresh rate...

Correction, try different display resolutions in the game to see which one works.
In any case, it's related to the display resolution (hence the refresh rate).

Hello biboo, I have Windows 7 and I checked and apparently my screen is indeed at 60Hz unless I'm looking in the wrong place?

I right-clicked, screen resolution, advanced settings, screen, and in the refresh rate box it says 60Hz....

So it shouldn't come from that???

Well, it seems that it's related to the game..
We should be able to force the game to start at 50 or 60hz, because your screen does not support 33hz (hence the black screen).

Isn't there another possible solution? Maybe through the BIOS?

VIA the BIOS? What is the relationship between the two? :)

Actually, I thought I understood that if I start the PC in safe mode, I could change the refresh rate. I found this:

I really don't see where the problem could come from???

Hi, I just tested 1024, 1440, and 1600 and everything works, but 1920 doesn't work, I get the 'out of range' message.

But I don't understand because all my other games like Crysis, Far Cry 2, and Bioshock work at 1920???

But it's not an incident because I had this problem with another game too.

EDIT: However, I just noticed something, my screen is 23 inches and I looked at the information, and 1920 is for 24-inch screens????

It might be silly, but could it be that this is why it works in some games and not in others?

Try to find an option to force the game to start at 60hz.
Does it crash at game launch or during gameplay? Do you make it to the menu?

Hey Biboo, let me explain what’s happening:

- I'm launching the game via Steam
- Once the game starts, I get a black screen with the message "out of range", but I can hear the game running in the background, it just doesn't display.
- So yes, it crashes right from the start, but it only crashes at 1920*1080.

What I don’t understand is why all my other games work perfectly... and plus, 33.7/30Hz is really a small gap...

And there's something else, when I go to my screen settings, it's at 60 Hz...

And I can only choose 60Hz max.

I don't quite see how to do it, but the demo of AVP (lol, this game is old) that you have has a problem..

No no, it's the new AVP coming out on February 19th, it's the new demo that was released today on Steam...
I hope that the final version will help me solve the problem.

I'm not a specialist, but if it's not due to the capabilities of your lagging screen or your computer's performance... then it probably comes from the cable between the two that isn't sending enough.

At a glance, I think it's just a simple screen refresh rate issue... (33hz is really very low).
You just need to adjust your refresh rate in the display settings in Windows (set it to 60hz).
