Meaning of the abbreviations RE: and TR:

RE: when it's a reply to one of your emails
TR: when it's a forwarded email

For RE: if I send you an email, when you receive it you click "reply" and the letters RE will appear before the subject

For TR, the same except it’s an email that has been directly forwarded to another recipient

To be quite precise:

RE: used to indicate a reply to an email or a subject, it does not mean "reply" or "response" at all but comes from the Latin "res" (thing) and means "regarding".

TR: used to indicate an element that has been forwarded, it stands for "transmit-receive" I think, but I no longer have the source for this....

Personally, that's how I use them, but abbreviations are not allowed on the site. I only use them for posts that have been ongoing for several days!

Hi, uh I think "re" means "hi again," well I see you again anyway, so it's like a "hello again."
