Hello,
I have a peak 80W speaker with a diameter of 18cm, and I would like to turn it into a subwoofer of the best quality possible with this type of driver. I would like to know how to go about building the enclosure to maximize the amplification of the sub-bass (dimensions, material, ventilation), as my sound card has a filter for the bass.

Thank you in advance
Configuration: HP pavilion 8190.fr Core 2 Quad Q6600 @2.41 GH 4 Go RAM @ 6400 MHz Asus 8600 GT HDD Samsung 500 Go

Hi xelar23, do you want to quickly build a box or get the most out of your speaker?

    Regarding redskins72's responses,

    - What wood to use? plywood: no, high-density MDF.
    - What thickness? 18mm: OK
    - Where should I place the speaker in the box? in the middle: okay if it's a sealed box, no if it's bass reflex.
    - What should be the volume of the box? make a square of 30 by 30 with a depth of 25 cm: what is the basis for calculating the volume? What about thickness and insulation material?
    - What should be done for the ports? you make holes with a 65mm drill and put a fine grille for dust: absolutely not, a port is not just a simple hole; it consists of a tube of diameter and length defined by the volume and resonance frequency. Ex.:

    - A passive or active filter is not mandatory!!: a passive filter is a minimum...

As you can see, building speakers, subwoofer boxes, or cabinetry is not something you improvise but requires numerous calculations...

Pour un caisson pour un subwoofer de 30 cm avec des mesures de 30 cm x 42 cm, le volume exact serait de 30 cm * 30 cm * 42 cm = 37,800 cm³.

@gege: Give the reference and brand of the sub because making a box like that blindly will give you crap.
