Hello,
I have a problem, I bought the collector's edition of The Sims 3.
I install it, it confirms the installation, and when I try to launch the game, it tells me authentication failure of the disk, no disk found, please insert The Sims 3 disk even though I have the real game.
Thank you for answering my question.
I am on XP, I browse with Firefox.
I was told that I need to update my drive's drivers but I don't know how to do that.

Hi everyone, first of all, thank you to all those who were kind enough to write, thanks to you I was able to solve this problem.
I received the message "disk authentication failed"
And I fixed the issue by updating my DVD drive, so for those who want to do the same and feel a bit lost, go to "Start / Control Panel / System / Hardware / Device Manager / then try to find the name of your DVD drive or just go to "This PC" and "right click" on your drive, then "Properties" from there you should find the name of your drive under "Hardware" After that note down the name of the drive and go look for an update on "Google"
And don't forget to confirm your game registration when you receive an email from EA.
I also registered on the "Download Manager," I don't know if that played a role but in any case after all these maneuvers and a restart, the game worked.
Hopefully it lasts!
PS: My PC is over 2 years old, so it's probably an issue with the drive, after all they managed to fit the entire game on a single DVD even though it's not a Blu-ray.. that's probably the cause of the problem.. -
So, I had downloaded the game + EA Download Manager. What wasn't working was the disk identification. So I uninstalled Sims 3 and started EA Download Manager. You need to sign up with them, and for that, you have to go to activation and create a profile. Then, a new tab opens with your email address, and it offers you to download the game from there. You download it, install it, and there you go, the game works! You don't even need to put the disk in the drive. It works without it.
I hope my explanation helped you, and if not, I’ll gladly give you more information to assist you.
No worries about being on edge, I completely understand. A hotline is supposed to be there to help you and not to treat you like fools...
Good luck!-
Hello!
I just read all your comments and I have exactly the same problem. I followed your instructions Dyana, and it says that my code is still and always submitted! It's pretty frustrating lol ^^ I created an account on EA Download Manager, uninstalled The Sims 3 and I'm repeating, it tells me that my code has already been submitted. Is that really what I was supposed to do? Or did I do it wrong? Do you think there could be another explanation? Or is it just my usual bad luck xD
Thanks in advance for your answers! -

In my opinion, this is because you have already registered your game previously on EA... In that case, it would be normal for it to get stuck at that point. But it seems strange to me... Normally, this downloadable version was created for those who have lost their CD, so in theory, they should have been able to register it on EA before...

Yes, that's what I think! But I read that this problem is common with laptops that have a DVD writer, and a forum says that you need to update your firmware... That might be the solution, but you still have to find out how to update your firmware! Anyway, I know it seems obvious to some, but personally, I don't even know what firmware is, lol.

Normally, you entered an address and a password beforehand, so go to login, enter your password and your address, and if you already uninstalled The Sims 3, you just need to click on the little arrow on the side.

Hello everyone, I've followed all the issues that seem to be mine as well. After installation, it mentions that it doesn’t see a disc in the drive, etc. I went back to the store to check if my laptop had a problem or if the software was defective. After a brief check, we found that the processor of my laptop is 1.655 GHz but the disk requires 2.0 GHz. Subsequently, I installed the disk on a fixed base of 2.03 GHz and the Sims 3 disk installed perfectly on the first try, furthermore it asked me to install EA Manager and everything went smoothly. In conclusion, check the power of your computer according to the required power on the back of your CD/DVD. See you soon!

Hi! I have another solution for those who have already submitted their disc code to the EA Download Manager or on their site. Install Game Jackal Pro. This software keeps a copy of your game on your computer, so you won’t have to insert the CD a dozen times before it works, and you won’t have to insert it at all. It’s true that this solution isn’t cheap; the software costs $250 on its own. However, you can do like me and just download the demo. At least it gives you a month of relief and it’s extremely effective.

Well, I bought my game The Sims 3 Normal all by myself and a friend installed Pets and stuff that she had on my computer, and when she left, she took the CD (Normal). But every time I try to launch the game, it tells me: "Unable, you don't have the Pets CD." But I have the other one. What should I do to launch just the normal Sims?

Hello,

In any case, one thing is certain, the authentication problem apparently comes from the laptops... So the issue must still be related to the disk if several of us are experiencing the same problem..
Because my game works very well on a regular desktop computer!
Thank you for providing us with a solution so we can play on our laptops!!!!!!!!!!!! -

In any case, the problem doesn't come from the disk because there is a disk authentication failure on my laptop, but the game works on my other computer. However, I would also like to know what this problem is that everyone is encountering :(

There are two alternatives: you can complain to the creators so that they fix the problem, hoping that your non-working game will be exchanged for one that works.
Or you can find it available for free download online... BUT IT'S ILLEGAL!!-
Dear friends, I have the solution
and the problem doesn't happen only on laptops because I have a desktop.
So I was saying that if you bought the legal version lol, you need to go through the EA Download Manager which is on the DVD-ROM that you should download through this method (well, it takes quite a while), and then you install the game using the EA Download Manager and you launch it from there as well. At no point will you need the DVD-ROM.
There you go, happy gaming to all! -

Hi, I'm reaching out because I think you can help me.
I've followed your instructions for the download manager. I now have the game Sims 3 in my account, which displays the "play" icon, but when I click it, it redirects me to the game launcher and asks me to insert the DVD... However, this software is supposed to be designed to play without the DVD???
Thanks for getting back to me. -

I have the same issue!
I sent an email to customer service who advised me to update my reader and disable my virtual drive.
I followed their advice but it didn't solve the problem.
I then tried to launch the game using my virtual drive (daemon tool) and an image of the CD.
To my surprise, I was able to launch the game but my joy was short-lived.
Indeed, after loading the game, I received an error message "authentication problem" and it kicked me out of the game. So back to square one!
If anyone has another idea?? or a link to suggest for finding a working no cd crack... I'm interested. -
Thank you virginy280586 for this solution, but I don't know much about computers and I didn't understand anything you said there!! LOL!!!
Could you please give a clearer explanation? It would really be great because I would love to be able to play from my phone.
Thanks in advance. -
It's good, I got it!! I've already started the download from EA Download Manager! It's gonna be long, but if it's a solution to be able to play it from my laptop, that's fine by me!! I'll let you know if it works!

Can you explain exactly how you did it?
I installed the download manager. I then went to the activated tab but it tells me that my product code is already in use. How did you proceed in your case? Did you originally have the Sims version on DVD-ROM?
I also called the hotline... But they really treat us like idiots...
They told me that they wouldn't help me since I have a laptop. He outright told me that I needed to buy a desktop computer to play! Of course! At €60 for the game, I am definitely going to add €1000 for a computer.
EA games... don't ask for anything and you'll be served!
Sorry, I'm a bit on edge! If you can explain how you did it, I would be grateful. -
same problem encountered but on laptop with Vista Home Edition
solution: uninstall the InCD module from Nero
once this module is uninstalled, the disk is accessible via launchersims3
