Hello, I encountered an issue today with my HP DeskJet F2290 printer..
Here is the error message: Incident on one or more cartridges and both the "color" and "black" lights are flashing red.
So here is a procedure provided by HP support to reset the printer:
- Unplug the power cord from the printer,
- Press and hold the "POWER" or "ON" button for ten seconds.
- Plug the cable back in, and release the button.
This way, you will reset the printer.. Very useful especially if you are recharging your cartridges..
Because HP uses a chip that complicates things a bit ;) to prevent you from saving money and to ensure you buy only genuine HP products..
Here is a second procedure, this time to clear the print cache of the printer.
Note this operation will clear your printer's memory (pending jobs, etc...)
- Unplug the power cord from the printer.
- Press and hold the *Cancel* and *Color Copy* buttons simultaneously.
- Now plug the power cord back in while still holding the buttons from the previous step.
- You can then release the buttons
- You can turn on your printer
I hope this will be useful to you.. Don't hesitate to do as I did, if you encounter any problem and find a solution, think of the time you are wasting and help save time for users in this community.. Best regards ;)

Hello,
I have an HP Deskjet F4180 printer. I refilled my cartridges because orange lights were flashing and an E appeared on my printer. I put my cartridges back in, and the error message continues. It says there is an issue with one or more cartridges.
I tried the reset technique, but it didn't work...
Could someone help me?
Thank you very much.

Same issue, cartridge change, steps taken to disconnect the power supply, open the cover, discharge and reload the cartridges, etc... nothing works...
