Best positioning for a LiveBox?

Hello,
My question concerns the LiveBox and Wi-Fi.
I know that a LiveBox should not be more than 10 m away to function well in Wi-Fi, and that the more obstacles and various disturbances there are, the less it works, etc.... No problem with that.
What is curiously talked about less is its orientation (or angle) as well as its vertical or horizontal position (polarization?).
So, is it better to orient the LB in the longitudinal direction (relative to a Netbook, for example) or, on the contrary, to position it perpendicular? A drawing would be better to help me understand.
Personally, mine is oriented perpendicularly. That is to say, the front face is directed towards my Notebook. I have tried longitudinally without noticing any significant difference, but at the time, I did not know about Netstumbler. Moreover, I installed it vertically across a skylight where there is always a slight draft that helps with cooling. This is justified by the fact that not only do I live in a tropical region, but I have also "overclocked" it by increasing its power to 120 mw instead of the default 50.
It works pretty well, since in the area that interests me, it reaches about 15 m despite a load-bearing wall and a partition. But I noticed that at the extreme limit, the signal can go from weak to very good simply by changing the orientation of my Netbook by 90°.

Primarily, the equipment is very often omnidirectional, so there's no need to overthink the orientation; the tilt of the laptop doesn't play a huge role. Often, it’s just a "coincidence." I've heard a lot about Wi-Fi propagation, like putting a cardboard with aluminum on top to boost the signal, but that’s somewhat of a bunch of nonsense in the sense that the waves are disturbed by others, etc. That said, Wi-Fi isn't very stable, but it's quite practical, a bit like GSM networks where the signal comes and goes without you moving...
