Amplifier or preamp

Hello,
I installed a TN television antenna in the attic, a tri-band from Métronic; the reception is not perfect on all channels, I am at 45% quality with jumping images and distorted sound. Maybe I should add an amplifier or a preamplifier? What is the difference between the two?
Thank you and have a good evening
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

An antenna preamplifier does not improve the picture quality in digital terrestrial television; it improves the quality of the signal... The amplifier is not necessarily called an apartment unit and should not be located next to the TV.

An amplifier, like a preamplifier, enhances the level of interference...

Now, in response to the initial question, a very low noise UHF preamplifier, placed as close as possible to the antenna, will, on one hand, reduce binary errors and, on the other hand, compensate for losses in the coaxial line; it’s hard to say by how much... overall, one might hope for 20%,... ?

The power supply for the preamplifier can be next to the television.
