Hello,
I have a problem with the game Velvet Assassin, which I just purchased via Steam. After installation, when I try to play, I get the following error message:
.\nx\PskMainNx.cpp
[51]
: error: assertion failed !
message: failed to init Ageia physics SDK
According to other forums I consulted in English, it would be enough to install Nvidia Physx to solve this problem. I have an Nvidia GEForce 9300 GE card with an updated driver, so I downloaded and installed the latest version of Physx (9.09.0408). However, my problem persists. Is there anyone who understands something and could help me?
Thank you in advance

Hello everyone, I have good news for those who are having trouble launching Velvet Assassin.
You just need to download this:
http://www.nvidia.com/content/DriverDownload-March2009/confirmation.php?url=/Windows/9.13.0604/PhysX-9.13.0604-SystemSoftware-Legacy.msi&lang=us&type=Other
and install it, then the game will launch normally.
Have a good day and enjoy the game. -
Make sure to launch Ageia PhysX before starting to play. Check that the Ageia icon is located at the bottom right of your notification bar. If the problem persists, find an earlier version of Ageia. If there's still an issue, your graphics card may not be compatible with Ageia, so you should check the nVidia website. If you still have a problem, then post a message and I'll try to help you.

So normally you should have a notification icon in the bottom right once your PC is on. If that's not the case ------> you go to the control panel and there you'll find the green NVIDIA Physx icon. Double-click on it. After that, I'd like you to post what it indicates in the info tab and the settings tab. Once that's done, I can help you more easily.
Waiting for your post -
When it comes to playing, I'm always ready to help others lol^^ You have in front of you the biggest no-lifer in IT lol.

Thank you for flying to my rescue again LOL
My Nvidia control panel has neither an info tab nor settings. Apparently, everything is done on the same
page. However, for him, PhysX is enabled.
So, as the Quebecers would say, lo po understood! -
The only problem could come from the Ageia accelerator. Try reinstalling it or there may be conflicts between your graphics card and Ageia. In that case, you should inquire with Nvidia. I can't help you further because I don't have an Nvidia card. I have an ATI Radeon X2300 special edition lol so there you go...

Thank you for your attempts to clarify, but now I'm left with an existential question: do I have that famous Ageia accelerator? The problem might simply be there, and that's where the drama unfolds... well, thank you anyway.

Hello,
I would like to intrude because I have the same problem. I have an Nvidia GeForce GT540M Graphics Card and when I open the Nvidia control panel, I find a tab "3D Settings" where there are several links:
"Adjust Image Settings with Preview", "Manage 3D Settings", and "Set PhysX Configuration"
On the last link, I am offered to choose my PhysX processor (default set to "Auto-Select") between auto-selection and my Graphics Card.
Can someone help me?
