Uninstall OCS agents

Hello,

I'm explaining my problem:

I am an intern at a high school that wants to carry out an inventory of their IT equipment using OCS and GLPI. The thing is, they have already deployed agents with an old server that is no longer in use (a Windows 2000).

They have therefore reinstalled OCS/GLPI on the new server (Linux with a graphical interface) but there is no data coming from the agents on OCS. The administrator assures me that OCS is correctly installed and that the problem might be due to the version of the agents corresponding to the old server.

What I would like to do is uninstall the agents on all the workstations (with a GPO for example, since the school has a second Windows 2003 server with OCS installed on it).

I was told about the executable uninstallocs.exe that could be deployed and would allow the uninstallation of the agents.

Can someone provide me with the procedure to uninstall the agents remotely?

Thank you in advance for your responses.
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 3.0.10

    Hello,

I installed OCS and GLPI during an internship a few years ago, and I think you can force the agent to update, which might resolve your problem...!

There is a special OCS forum on the internet where a very knowledgeable person helps people. As for whether you can deploy ocsunistall, I can't say for sure, but I think it can be done anyway.

Personally, I would try to create a package with your unistall inside and execute it on the workstations via GPO (the same way you would deploy an agent, after all). I would do that after trying to force the agent update.

Do you remember the method to force the installation of the agent?

I think you need to use /DEPLOY, but I'm not sure where to put it. I believe this method only works if the agent version is different. In my case, it's the same version, installed with an old server.

    Hello,

/DEPLOY is used to force one agent version to replace another.

Have you checked if your agents were pointing to the right server??

Because if you changed it, the IP and hostname are not necessarily the same.., and as a result, you might be pointing to nothing, hence no information is being relayed...

      Thank you for your response!

The simplest thing would be for me to manage to uninstall them and redeploy them with the correct server, but do you know if I have to uninstall them with the same server that was used for their deployment?

I saw on several forums that uninstallocs could work, but that it had to be packaged and deployed.

      If you could enlighten me...

I don't think you need to bring out your old server!

You should be able to get rid of them with this one, since it's a GPO that will apply.

Help with what? With creating a package?

At the beginning of my internship, I tried it without, but that's a suicide mission! You need to download a small utility called ocspackager.exe,

I haven't read it, but I think there are good infos there about it!

So I know there was something with the admin syntax or I had a problem, it's something like nomadmin@domain for 2003, to check.

    Good luck!

Here's what you need to do,

deploy the ocsunistall.exe via a GPO!

After that, do a clean installation with ocspackager.

Apparently, it's not needed for uninstallation...

Thank you very much for your answers!

I will try to deploy uninstallocs.exe.

One last quick question (I promise ^^) Do you know what parameters need to be set in the GPO? (where you would normally put /INSTALL /S ....).

    Thanks again!

    Hello,

for the uninstallation, since I've never done it before, I don't know what to put in the GPO settings, but /S is for it to be silent I believe...

Good luck. No worries if you have other issues.
